Canton Creamery Ice Cream
at the Collinsville
Summer Cool-Down Bash
Downright Music & Art teams up with Collinsville
Congregational Church on Sunday, August 28th
from 2:30pm -4:3opm for a free outdoor concert
on the church grounds in Collinsville. Visitors are
also invited to make their own free Canton
Creamery Ice Cream sundaes and enjoy free
balloons and gifts while they enjoy the show.
Music sets will feature Downright Music owner
Andrew Decker, as well as a select group of his
students and teachers who will demonstrate
their love for music. In addition, Jay North, who
leads contemporary worship at the church twice
a month, will be accompanied by his band to
showcase a number of Christian Contemporary
Music hits.
“I think this blend of different music will be inspiring for anyone of any age who attends,” stated Rev.
Jim Wheeler, Pastor of Collinsville Congregation Church. “We are so excited to have formed this
partnership to offer a memorable event for all in Collinsville.”
The two organizations began their partnership a year ago, when Downright Music and Art started using
rooms in the church’s historic schoolhouse building to offer additional music and art classes. “Jay North
and the church pastor really appreciate our desire to impart students with both essential skills and a
passion for music,” Andrew said recently. “It will be great to see our students celebrate how much they
have accomplished in this public setting.”
Worship Leader Jay North, who also teaches music at The Artist’s Collective in Hartford and has been
teaching guitar and keyboard in the Farmington Valley for over 25 years, especially loves seeing young
people develop a passion for worship and worship music. “There are hundreds of excellent Christian
artists who are writing great contemporary music for the church,” North explains. “My desire is to help
assemble and train a youth worship band at the Collinsville Church with the potential of having them
develop a service designed by young people, for young people.”
North also thinks the church’s collaboration with Downright has been very beneficial. He added,
“Andrew, Naomi and the Downright teachers strive for excellence and the highest quality in all they do.
I think the organizations share the desire to bless and benefit the Collinsville community.”
