1. New Zealand 2001 ICT Goals and Strategies

2. History: the Education Review Office of New Zealand (2001) states that the history of ICT implementation in Educational Institution can be seen as a continuum, which dated back for more than thirty years, beginning with access to computers, progressing through access to the Internet and networking, up skilling teachers and students, and ending with the full integration of ICT into the teaching and learning.

3. STRATEGY:

4. improving learning outcomes for students using ICT to support the curriculum. Using ICT to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of educational administration. Developing partnerships with communities to enhance access to learning through ICT.

5. Focus Areas:

6. Infrastructure for increasing school’s access to ICTs to enhance education Professional development so that school managers and teachers can increase their capacity to use ICT.

7. Vision:

8. to develop the knowledge, understandings, skills, and attitudes to participate fully in society, to achieve in a global economy, and to have a strong sense of identity and culture.

9. Goals (broad):

10. “Government with the education andtechnology sectors, community groups, andindustry envisions to support to thedevelopment of the capability of schools touse ICT’s in teaching and learning and inadministration.”

11. Sub-goals: Learners - to enable learners to succeed to the best of their ability in the New Zealand Curriculum; Teachers - to support and develop education professionals so that they are able to effectively use ICT for teaching, learning, and classroom management;

12. Leaders - to support and enhance leaders' effective use of ICT in school learning, teaching, management, and administration; Infrastructure - to support the development of an effective, efficient, and appropriate ICT infrastructure; Families, communities, businesses, and other stakeholders - to effectively engage families, communities, businesses, and other stakeholders to enhance students' knowledge, understandings, skills, and attitudes.

13. Why an ICT Strategic Framework for Education?

15. Goals: The ICT Strategic Framework for Education seeks to deliver this vision to: A more learner-centered education system transcending organizational boundaries. More informed decision making within the Education sectors. Increased ease and opportunity of access and reduced compliance costs for all participants. Increased confidence, capability and capacity from the use of ICT by all participants in the education sectors. Greater oppurtunities for the generation, application and sharing of new evidences.
