he term "multimedia" was created by Bob
Goldstein (later 'Bobb Goldsteinn') to promote
its July 1966 opening of "LightWorks in

HISTORY MULTIMEDIA

 Two years later, in 1968, the term "multimedia"
is re-adjusted to reflect the work of a political
consultant, David Sawyer, Sawyer's husband of
Iris, one of producers in L'Oursin Goldstein. In
the intervening forty years, the word has taken
on different meanings. In the late 1970s, this
term is used to describe a presentation consisting
of a multi-slide projector is set to track audio.
[Reference?] However, in the 1990s 'multimedia'

recognize the meaning of words and
ubiquitousness in the 1990s with the
award 'Word of the Year "in 1995.
      Institute summarized its rationale by
      stating" [Multimedia] has become the

Multimedia is usually recorded and played,
    displayed or accessed by information
    content processing devices, such as
computers and electronic devices, but can
also be part of a live performance.
    Multimedia (as an adjective) also
describes electronic media devices used to
    store and experience multimedia content.

Further development, as the development of
     information and communications
     technology hardware specifications of the

Why
                MULTIMEDIA?

Hal.: 15 Isikan Judul Halaman Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi
 Fulfillment of human needs better
information for those in the field of
     education, business, entertainment and so
the pattern changes or how. With a variety
of reasons such as time efficiency, cost
and space, humans tend to covet the
acquisition and storage of information in
ways that are simple, fast, fun, efficient
use of space and with a relatively low cost.

Hal.: 16 Isikan Judul Halaman Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi
On the other hand based on observations of
    human capacity in receiving and
    considering the information it receives,
    according to Research Computer
    Technology Research (CTR); * Humans
able to remember 20% of what he sees *
Humans able to remember 30% of what
he heard * Humans are able to remember
50 % of the heard and seen * Humans
able to remember 70% of what he saw,
    heard and done

 Referring to the results of that research,
       technology experts trying to make
technology that allows people to obtain
information in a way that wants to see,
hear and experience (the actors) in it.

MULTIMEDIA CAPABILITIES

   Multimedia capabilities facilitate human activities
including: * Changing the workplace. With
teleworking, employees can perform the work of
the office does not have to. Examples of
      software that support teleworking and
telecommunicating is Netmeeting! * Change the
way of shopping. Homeshooping / teleshooping
can be used by using the internet facility *
Change the way of learning. Schools began
using the multimedia computer. Learning on-
      line, e-learning using e-book. * Etc.

 Use of Media Learning Knowledge and skills,
attitudes and behavior changes can occur
because the interaction between the new
     experience with the experience never
experienced before. According to the Arsyad
Bruner (2005) there are three main levels of
learning mode, ie direct experience (enactive),
experience of pictorial / picture (iconic), and the
experience of abstract (symbolic). One of the
most widely picture used as a reference as a
basis for the theory of media use in teaching and
learning is € ™ s Daleâ Cone of Experience (Dale
     Experience cone) (Dale, 1969

 The influence of media in learning can be seen
from the level of learning experience that will be
received by the students. The results obtained by
studying a person from direct experience
(concrete), the fact that there is in someone's life
and environment through artificial objects, to the

 Said medium in the American Heritage Electronic
Dictionary (1991) also interpreted as a means to
distribute and present the information (Rachmat
     and Alphone, 2005/2006).

 2. Tool that can create dynamic presentations
and interactive that combines text, graphics,
animation, audio and video (Robin and Linda,
     2001)
     3. Multimedia in the context of a computer
according to Hofstetter 2001 are: the use of
computers to create and combine text, graphics,
audio, video, using a tool that allows users to
     interact, create, and communicate.
     4. Multimedia as a combination of text text,
graphics, sound, animation, and video to convey

electronic media to store and display
     multimedia data (Zeembry, 2008)

Hal.: 46 Isikan Judul Halaman Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi
Based on these opinions it can be concluded that
the Meru-feed multimedia blend of various media (file
format) in the form of text, images (vector or
   bitmap), graphics, sound, animation, videos,
interactions, etc.. which has been packaged into a
digital file (computing), is used to convey a message
   to the public.
