1. One-shot video interview with interviewer
Proposed models for interviews
Technology involved:
 Camera
 Microphone
Features:
 Easiest way
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GClHiEuRj_s
2. One-shot video interview without interviewer
Proposed models for interviews
Technology involved:
 Camera
 Microphone

 Requires 2 takes: expert (answers)+ interviewer (questions) or questions
added by text with black screen
 Allows cutting the interview
3. Two-takes video interview with interviewer
Proposed models for interviews
Technology involved:
 PC or smartphone for expert
 Camtasia for screencasting
Features:
 No need of microphone or camera
 No need of being physically together
 Allows cutting the interview
4. Skype video interview
Proposed models for interviews
Recommended model: the easiest
• Device: Laptop
• Microphone: USB mic (Snow Ball)
• Software: Camtasia (Screencast)
• Device: Laptop
• Software: Camtasia (Screencast)
or
TIP: Use the same things than in the video-lecture production process
Proposed models for video
lectures
1. Powerpoint-based video-lectures
Technology involved:
 Camtasia
 Microphone
Features:
 Good for theory
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0q-JKBEwNy4
2. Screencast video-lectures
Technology involved:
 Camtasia
 Microphone
Features:
 Good for practice: show how to code, config a tool,
navigate through web sites, etc.
Our method
1. Write a very good sript using close language
2. Screencast video and audio following the script
3. Cut beginning and end of screencast so that it starts and ends
where you want (Optional)
4. Add beginning and end screen with name and title
(just in case it’s not a powepoint-based video-lecture)
Guidelines for Screencast
video lectures
Step 1. Clean up your desktop
Icons, applications, background, etc. Avoid possible distractions!
Step 2. Write a script to ensure…
 Your video includes everything you want
 Your language is exact and concise
Step 3. Do a practice run
 If you are using any tool or web site, practice first so
you don’t get unexpected results
 Don’t hesitate. Do it right or record it again
Step 4. Record the best audio possible
Use an USB microphone:
…and…
Step 5. Include yourself in the video
 But not all the time! It gets boring.
 Suggestion: only at beginning and end
