7. Once upon a time in the magic
mountain of Montserrat, there was a
dragon living in a big cave. It was a
good dragon but it was a sad one.
The cave was dark and wet. At night,
it was always so cold that the dragon
could not even light its own fire. But
one freezing night, the dragon could
not bear it anymore and decided to
leave and search for a better place to
live.
9. The next day, our poor beast began
its trip. After it walked a little bit, the
dragon met a little girl called Elyon.
She was a little girl, an apprentice
witch.
She was a very good girl and offered
him an infusion made of medicinal
herbs. The dragon drank it and it felt
very good. They became very good
friends and decided to continue the
trip together. She wanted to travel
and visit new places, too.
11. They were walking together,
following small paths and crossing
tiny streams. After a while, they
found a big river. The river was wide
and the water was too cold to swim
in it. But not far away, there was a
fisherman seating under a tree. He
was sad. He was crying. Elyon and
the dragon asked him why he was so
sad and he answered that his boat
was stacked. It crashed against some
rocks and he could not move it
because it was too heavy.
13. Elyon and the dragon pushed the
boat back to the open water and she
made another medicinal herb to
warm him up. The fisherman was
very happy and offered to take them
with him to the sea. Elyon and the
dragon felt very happy and agreed.
Elyon, the dragon and the
fisherman, followed the river till the
Mediterranean Sea.
15. The following day, the travellers
stopped to have lunch. The
fisherman made a fireplace, the
dragon went to catch some fish and
Elyon came to the forest for some
fresh fruit. She wanted to prepare
some juice of the fruit for herself.
She passed the forest and reached to
an amazing meadow. Suddenly, the
witch heard a strange noise. After a
while, she realised that it was a
calling of an animal.
17. Then, she saw a donkey in the high
grass. It was very nervous. The girl
asked the donkey why it was so
loudly. The donkey answered that it
had lost and its owner Hodja was
probably looking for it but the
donkey had forgotten the way back
home. Next, Elyon with her good
heart decided to help the poor
donkey. She only found some fruit
for lunch and took the animal with
herself.
19. The other friends were very
astonished but they agreed to help
the animal, too. The fisherman had
known Hodja quite well. Hodja lived
in a small village. He was an old,
clever man. He had a great sense of
humour. After the lunch they all got
on the boat and followed the river to
Hodja’s village. Finally, they got to
the place of their destination –
Hodja’s house.
21. Hodja was really happy when he saw
the donkey. He thought that the
beast had eaten it in the mountains.
Although, Hodja was poor, he in-
vited the visitors for dinner. His wife
made the meal and prepared the
juice for the little witch. The food
was delicious and the old man told
the guests some interesting stories.
23. Then she prepared a magic drink and
gave it to the donkey. After a while, it
occurred that the animal was able to
spit the gold coins when Hodja
touched its left ear. The old man and
his wife became very rich. They
thanked Elyon for such a generous
gift. The old people could live
without any worries. The witch, the
dragon and the fisherman were very
happy that they helped them. Finally,
the travellers got on the boat and
sailed towards the Mediterranean Sea
again.
25. They sailed until they saw a small
cottage on the river. It was early in
the morning. The dragon and the
fisherman were very hungry but
Elyon was thirsty. All of them were
quite tired after a tiring and long
journey. So they decided to have a
break by the cottage. They got out
of their boat and then they walked
towards the yard of the cottage. The
cottage looked extremely old. Its
roof was in a bad contidion.
27. They saw a tiny moving creature in
the middle of the yard. They
wondered what it looked like . So
they walked up to it. When they
realized that it was a small boy with a
cap , they couldn’t believe their eyes.
He was as small as a pea.He had
blond hair. He was wearing a blue
t-shirt and red shorts.They asked
what his name was. He answered,
”Patufet”.
29. Patufet was living with his poor
father and mother. His father was at
work. He wasn’t at home. His
mother was making breakfast for
herself and Patufet.
31. Patufet invited them in. His mother
was very kind to them. She asked where
they came from. They said that they
came from Montserrat and they talked
about their long journey. She set the
breakfast table for her guests, but there
weren’t enough chairs at the table. She
asked Patufet to bring three more
chairs from the living room. Patufet
went to the living room and brought
the chairs at once. Our guests got
astonished at his strength. They had
difficulty in understanding how Patufet
could manage to carry three chairs at
one time.
33. Although he was as small as a pea,
he was as strong as a huge man. Then
they sat at the table and ate the
breakfast happily. After they had
breakfast,they thanked to their host,
Patufet, and her mother. They
decided to go on their journey until
they found a place where they
could live happily forever.
They waved at their guests and
they said goodbye to them. Patufet
was very happy and he went inside
singing his song “Patim, patam,
patum”.
