6. Content Management System (CMS) The Bottom Line: Efficiently Manage Online Information A CMS represents a major departure from traditional methods. Not only are business processes altered, but more business users and fewer technical personnel are involved in day-to-day content management operations. Content bottlenecks are removed, while content backups are automatically generated. A CMS changes the way online information is managed. 13. User focused design - A shift in perspective Web Communications http://webcomm.fiu.edu The new site will reflect user needs not FIU's organization structure. Support for these changes will be provided in the form of feedback, analytics, testing, and peer site reviews to be conducted by the web communications team.

15. User focused design - A shift in perspective Web Communications http://webcomm.fiu.edu In addition to the site architecture, the FIU homepage should be seldom viewed as the final destination of a user and more as an entrance. We seek to get users to their destination as quickly as possible without getting in their way. A great number of web sites impose their organizational structure on the user. Using the org chart as your site navigation is not sufficient. Users visit your site with a certain need to be fulfilled and most can’t find what they need because they don’t know our internal language. (IE acronyms and internal department names).
