Grasslands are areas with insufficient rainfall to support trees but more than deserts, receiving between 250-900mm of rain annually. There are two types of grasslands - tropical, which are warm year-round but have dry and rainy seasons, and temperate, which have hot summers and cold winters. Grasses are the main plant in grasslands, with few trees, and grasslands have different names depending on location.

rainfall when other factors prevent the growth of

and 30 °C. Temperate grasslands have warm summers and
cold winters with rain or some snow.
