8. REQUIREMENTS
 Belgian nationality
 Have a good command of English (TOEFL/IELTS)
 Submission of official transcripts as evidence of outstanding Bachelor’s
record
 GRE or GMAT results (recommended)
 Year in which you obtained your bachelor’s degree

APPLY
Three
simultaneous
actions: start early!
Look for financial support (BAEF, Fulbright, Fernand
Lazard Foundation, etc…)
Determine which tests are requested by the
US university for your master program
to apply & take them
- English proficiency : TOEFL or IELTS
- admission test if required: GRE/GMAT
Apply to a minimum of 3 US
universities

 A brief autobiography in narrative prose (one
page)
 A carefully prepared statement of purpose
 Why do you want to study in the US?
 What are your graduate study plans?
 What benefits do you expect to gain from your stay
in the US?
 3 recommendation letters (November 15th)

12. DECISION PROCESS
July - December Departure to the US (students usually : Aug./Sept)
March - May Admission responses from US universities
Early February Final decision about BAEF Fellowships
End of January BAEF in-person selection interview
Mid-december BAEF preliminary selection
December – March Apply to US universities
October 31st
Deadline for application

 Timing is everything!
 Don't hesitate to seek advice (from your
professors, the university international
relations office, your friends, BAEF’s
Alumni and office, ...)
 Letters of recommendation:
personalized, detailed and diverse.
Follow them up.
 Interviews: Learn how to pitch your
project simply and clearly (check
whether your university organizes mock
interviews).
