Roommate Research Paper
Roommate Nicole and Marie have been best friends on and off for seven years. They never got
along. They would constantly fight and stop talking for six months to a year at a time. Why go
back and forth with friendship when you could never trust and rely on Nicole anyways. Nicole and
Marie decided since they were friends again (well at least for the moment) why not get an
apartment together. Only if Marie actually really knew what she was getting herself into by now
actually moving into a place together. It was not even a month after moving into their apartment
together where it already was starting to go south. Marie worked a full–time and part–time job plus
went to school full–time. She has brown hair, blue eyed angel is what most...show more content...
Nicole was trying to give herself extra money for going out and drinking. She would never tell or
show Marie the actual bills. Nicole also started lying about her rent money being stolen from her
car. Nicole claimed she left her purse in the car with her half of the rent money and someone
broke into her car and stole it, which makes no sense for the person she was of no windows being
broken and she would lock her doors. Anything to try and make her feel like the victim that she
was not. Nicole went out and bought a chinchilla with extra money. At first she took care of him
and cleaned up after her animal. However after about a month in a half later or so of having him
she decided she didn't want to take care of her chinchilla no more and left the house stinky and
nasty from not cleaning his cage. Nicole begun selling anything from couches, towels, video
games and even her pet chinchilla just so she could have extra cash for drinking and now
smoking pot. Nicole decided having a dog would be better for her. You know her own pet therapy
dog. Nicole obviously never thinks of responsibilities that come with animals or in adulthood for
that matter. She did not ask the apartment managers what kind of breeds they were allowed and not
allowed to have at the complex. She decided with a Boxer/Pitbull mix, in which most apartment
complexes would not allow anyways. Nicole would lock Hunter and cage

Essay on Choosing the Right Roommates
One of the most stressful parts of college life is not the tests, quizzes, practical, or classes, but the
never ending pressure one faces when they have to decide on their next semester's rooming
situations. Questions such as "Who should I room with? [or] Where should we room," haunt each
student throughout the year. It is a difficult thing to cover, and occasionally feelings get hurt, but it
is your right to pick with who you want to live with. It is also a decision you will have to live with
for the rest of the year. Some of the ways we can avoid that stress and be more at peace with who
we are rooming with is starting early, being honest with yourself and your current roommate or
friends, and taking into consideration the majors and...show more content...
In the end, that could make the hurt and results even worse between you and your friend than it
could have been. Also, the person will end up being put with complete strangers that also don't
have roommates. How would you feel if you were thrown in that situation? So, maybe it's not the
best way to treat a friend. It may be hard, but talking about the rooming situation early can do a lot
to limit the ending damage that may occur if you room with someone that is not compatible with
your personality or if you wait until the last minute to take care of business. This damage may
even be losing a friend over something that could have been fixed. Another part to talking with
your friends early is honesty. Lyndsee, an interviewee in the "College housing decisions: choosing
new roommates document, said that it is best to be honest about plans from the start, because you
could end up losing friends over housing choices (Miller, 2006). Honesty is must in any kind of
relationship and can be difficult, but if you are taking the time to talk to your friend/roommate early,
you might as well be completely honest with them in the beginning. They will figure it out
eventually. For example: you already told another group of people that you would live with them in
a four person apartment, but haven't told your other friends of your plans, then in

a conclusion on the issue, but we were ineffective in managing it. This paper will

Social Roles In The Stanford Experiment
Research Paper
The stanford experiment was a study of how social roles can influence our behavior. It was a
simulation that was held at Stanford University, California in 1971. Individuals were randomly
chosen to play the role of a "prisoner" or a "guard". Philip Zimbardo's theory was to know if having a
social role can influence our behavior. Once he began the experiment he proved that that people do
change their behavior when assigned to a social role, his experiment was a success to all those who
opposed.
Philip Zimbardo's experiment on prison life demonstrated how quickly an individual can dissolve
their own identity to fit into the social roles expected of them (UK Essays). Those assigned to
play the role of guard were given sticks and sunglasses; those assigned to play the prisoner role
were arrested by the Palo Alto police department, deloused, forced to wear chains and prison
garments, and transported to the basement of the Stanford psychology department, which had been
converted into a makeshift jail. Several of the guards became progressively more sadistic,
particularly at night when they thought the cameras were off, despite being picked by chance out
of the same pool as the prisoner ("Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment") Psychologist World.
The prisoners were humiliated and embarrassed by the guards. The guards were cruel and even
made the prisoners do menial tasks. They made the prisoners clean the toilet bowls with their bare
hands rather than providing

The Stanford Prison Experiment: Reflection
Stanford prison experiment reflection During the Stanford prison experiment video I did notice a
few similarities of a particular experience I had when I was in the Marines, that experience was just
how putting on a certain uniform can alter the way a person. A uniform of authority can shift the
way a person acts or even behaves oppose to not wearing a uniform of authority. when you're not
covering your identity with some article of clothing you hold an image that you want to try and
protect and an image that is relatively consistent to your normal behavior, however when you shield
that self–image and put let's say a mask over which conceals your identity that can completely change
everything about you including the way you conduct yourself.

My College Roommates
College is a period of adapting from regular, socially centered life to a life more focused on
studying and school work. This period of change is difficult as a balance is made between spending
time with friends and making time for writing papers, deciphering mathematical equations, and
fulfilling the requirements for any number of other course studies is made. Only college student's can
understand the difficulty in this. As with many college students, I live off campus in my own
apartment. With this comes the need to incorporate my schedule with that of a roommate in order
to afford the expenses of rent and utilities. One of the problems with this is that my roommate is
not a college student. This often is a problem as our priorities and personal lives are much different.
It would be much easier to live with a roommate that is also a college student.
Often college students work similar work schedules as they are in classes full time during the day.
Since most classes are during the day, the time available to a student's work schedule is limited
primarily to evenings and weekends. Many times, when working these hours, a conflict arises with a
roommate that works standard hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00am until 5:00pm. Coming in late
at night it is a general consideration for a roommate to respect a house "quiet time." While this is
nothing but common courtesy for one another, the ability to have friends visit after work, or to
watch a movie in the common living

My Experience With My Roommate Essay
So far my adjustment to college has gone fairly smoothly. I have done fine with adjusting to
living in a dorm. However, I wish some things are different with my roommate. I feel we get
along well, but I do not feel like we are 'best friends', which I know is fine. I do okay with finding
quite time in my dorm or the library. I do wish I had more 'alone time'. Meaning I am in my dorm
by myself and I don't have to worry about anyone coming in. I miss that about having a bedroom
to myself. While my roommate is fairly good at being quiet or to herself. She is more often times
than not in the dorm. She is introverted so it takes a lot to get her to go out and socialize. I'm not
trying to be rude. I just apparently don't do well being around people constantly 24/7. As I have
mentioned in previous journals, I am not exactly homesick. But I am definitely missing some
important people in my life, specifically my significant other. I have found ways to keep them
present in my life without hindering my education or obligation. I tend to study in either my
room or in the library. I find I do better when I just 'bite the bullet' and go study by myself. Get it
done. Then I can go and socialize. I struggle with staying well. Healthy, I guess. I feel sick more
often than I am used to. I assume that it is because I am surrounded by people constantly, I don't
have a solid sleep schedule, I am eating differently than I used to and stress never helps when it
comes to fighting illness. I

Definition Essay: A Good Roommate
Ming Ying Jean, Arnold ENGL 186–081 1 May, 2015 Definition Essay A Good Roommate Almost
every college student has an experience with living in the university dormitory. It could be a lot of
fun as long as you get along with your roommates. Roommates is one of most significant factors
that affects your college life. So, what exactly is good roommates? First, roommate means someone
who is share space with you. You could have more than one or two roommates. From the research,
roommate is a person who assigned to share or shares a room or apartment or others. (Roommate.)

To develop a good relationship with your roommate and be a good roommate for other people, it
can actually honing your skills in preparation for the society in the future. If you are a college
student and live in the doom, you probably will face the roommate who has different of region,
race and country. You do not need t agree with his or her thought or follow his or her rules, but
you have to respect and accept it. It is hard for many of people to deal with something strange or
new, even weird to them. It is important to not disrespect their stuff. In many cases, it is hard for
them to accept it. People could concert to moving out or talk to the manager. That is another sort of
way being good roommate. This is also a method for conflict resolution. If you have roommate
problem, do not talk to your friends. It is best to go to a dorm staff member to deal with the issue
confidentially. (citation in

Social Norms And Apartment Analysis
In my apartment my three roommates and I had a kind of seating arrangement that we followed,
so in a way, it has become a sort of social norm for us. It's a lot like after the first couple weeks of a
new semester you kind of have that one seat you sit in all the time in class and you kind of get
upset when someone else sits in it. So, one of my roommates lays on the couch usually and the
other usually lays on the opposite couch, as for me I usually get stuck with the crappy recliner. So,
the other day I tried to create a little tension in the apartment. One of my roommates gets back from
class later than my other roommate and myself, so I decided to take the spot of the one roommate
that was already back to the apartment. He came to the living

Why Is Having A Roommate Essay
The real lesson is not always taught in school but by the adventures and experiences you embark
on. One such experience ,school does not prepare you for is having a roommate. Having a
roommate can be the most amazing or the most hazardous experience ever. The idea of having a
roommate is to learn to adapt to life when you are thrown into the world with a random person. The
mind set of every person differs and it is important to understand and bend in such a way that no
conflicts arise. You might even end up being good friends with your roommates once you have
successfully understood each other. Consider these most common types of roommates.
One of the most common encounters when looking for a roommate is the OCD queen. Everyone

This mysterious lurker tends to keep to his or her self and would often make you curious to know
more about them. Living with this roommate can give rise to many awkward silences and
conversations. This person can drive you insane if you are quite the social butterfly as he or she
usually likes to keep to him or herself and do their own things.
The polar opposites can be extremely difficult to live with. It is the roommate who does everything
different and opposite of what you do from cleanliness to the sleeping cycle. You might end up
quarrelling with your roommate most of the time. It is better to move out than stay with this
roommate as it is very inconvenient when you and your roommate have nothing in common.
Spending time with your roommate is important but if this person wants to know your every move,
you have got yourself a clingy roommate. A clingy roommate can be irritating. You don'twant to hide
from your own roommate. This roommate might be clingy to you for a reason. Try to make them
understand that you want your privacy. If everything fails, the smartest decision would be to move

What Is The Worst Roommate Essay
It's finally the time. We are leaving our parents' house, the warm and cozy nest in order to go and
face wildlife or commonly called college. The excitement is building up and we're about to
combust as we reach the doors of the university. We're eager to finally be able to live alone with
no rules, no regulations, just ourselves and no one else to command us. We've all been through
that, and we've all dreaded the exact same thing. Who's the new roommate? How's he or she going
to be like? Clean? Disdainful? It was probably the first question everyone asked, walking up the
stairway to hell, his or her new house for the next four months. The Worst Roommate Ever can
derive into two distinct parts, two opposite poles. There is the typical OCD riddled kind of
roommate, a second mom, and...show more content...
The most suggested solution would be talking about it. Good communication can often be the
key to problem solving. Most of the time, fights are generated by misunderstandings and the lack
of consideration of the other. It's always beneficial to take the time to sort things out by talking
about each roommate's feelings without omitting the other's. The roommates can agree on a
time specific to talking about the issue and try to sort it in the most pacific way. It's important to
be considerate and understanding towards each other. By the end of the day, it's not always
about pride and how each roommate wants to make his/her point of view more valuable. Of
course, talking things out cannot always be the solution, as some people just don't function that
way, it all depends on each person's personality. If the roommate end up being a stubborn one, the
best solution is to go see the housing service, as it's their job to solve the issues between
roommates or even part them. The wellbeing of the two people comes first so it's never a wrong
idea to seek for external help and the housing service is the best place to go

Description And Description Of My Roommate Essay
Part A: Descriptions
The subject I've chosen to write about is when my roommate (A) at the college residence wasn't
pulling his weight in cleaning duties. He had never lived without his parents before and must not
have realized he had to clean up after himself. Time and time again, I would have to wash his (A)
dishes and pick up after him. At first, we got along super well and for a while I avoided
confronting him because I figured a few dishes here and there wasn't too bad. We'd often have
parties at the house and he would never help us clean up the mess the following day. Finally
about half way through the semester, I confronted him and we came to a compromise that he
would clean on certain days, and I would clean up the other days. It went well for the first week
and then on his cleaning days he'd say I'll clean up tomorrow just leave everything where it is. Sure
enough, three days later, nothing had been cleaned and the house was a disaster. I spoke to my two
other roommates (B&C) about him and they agreed that they were sick of doing his chores and
living with him too. The root cause must have been personality differences. In which I mean that
myself, and my two other roommates (B&C) standard of cleanliness was not the same as roommate
A's. Our style of living was just not the same as roommate A so we had a talk with him and told
him we would like for him to move out. Upon our request, he had moved out soon thereafter. A
couple days later, he was disgruntled and

I don't quite remember all the books in my lifetime, but I can clearly recall the books that totally

How to Find the Perfect Roommate
Facing the fact that you have to find the "perfect" roommate you have to make a decision about
what the ideal roommate would be for you. Just because you are best friends with someone or your
friend suggested that you live with them doesn't necessarily mean that they will be the ideal
roommate for you. If you have determined what you are looking for in a roommate you can begin
your search.
You would first have to go through all of your friends to see if they were looking for a place to stay.
The first step should always be asking your friends or people you know if they are looking for a
place or if they know someone who is. If you already recognize the person, or know someone who
will give their word for them, then the procedure of...show more content...
Another disadvantage would be that the roommate would be unreliable. They could be late on their
half of the bill. Which is why I said, make sure you monitor their spending habits. Maybe they spent
their money for something they didn't need. It would be understandable if they used the money to fix
their car, or for a doctor bill. If they spent their money on things like; a game that cost $40,
restaurant food every night, or even a cell phone, when they already have a perfectly

Roommate Agreement
At the beginning of the school year, I was ecstatic upon hearing the news that I would have a
sophomore as my roommate. My expectations went over the roof, especially after we spoke over the
telephone and text messages prior to our moving day. I looked forward to meeting and learning from
you about the campus and academic opportunities at Virginia Tech (VT). Since then, our
relationships have deteriorated because you consistently violated our roommate agreement. I value
our friendship and hoping this letter would offer plans to help us restore some of the trusts that
we've built at the beginning of the school year.

Different Types of Roomates
Roommates Roommates Having trouble with your roommate? It is hard to get along with
certain roommates especially if you both have different personalities. People can have many
different types of roommates, which makes it complicated to know what type of personality he
or she has. Roommates can be easy to live with, or very difficult; you just need to set boundaries.
After reading this, it could help you decide what to do if you are stuck in a situation with these
types of roommates. The Moocher What is a moocher? The perfect example of a moocher is
shown above in image 1.This type of roommate is someone who always asks you for things, and
doesn't plan on repaying you for it. They would always eat you food and use your toothpaste and
other necessities without asking or telling you. It is one of the worst kinds of roommates you can
have. They would constantly forget their wallet when you go somewhere with them so they would
not have to pay. It is one of those roommates you get annoyed with because they do not give you
anything in return. Advantages There are not that many advantages to having a moocher as a
roommate, but there are a few. One of the advantages is that moochers are successful because
people are sheepish about confronting them. Moochers are very tricky and smart when they are
trying to get something from somebody. They are usually nice to you when they are asking for
money. One of the best qualities they have is that they do not stay up all night, so

Definition Essay Roommates
Definition of Roommates As we know, "roommate" is a word, which is combined by "room" and
"mate". Therefore, according to "Dictionary.com", the meaning of "roommate" is "a person who
is assigned to share or shares a room or apartment with another or others". Personally, I believe that
my roommates are not only the people who share the house or live with me, but also they are my
closed friends who know me well. In my mind, the definition of roommates is people who I regard
as both friends and family members at the same time. Since I studied abroad from China, I have
started my new life–style, which was my first time to live with roommates. In the beginning, I
hoped that I could have roommates who were kind and friendly. At least, we could keep peaceful if
we couldn't get along with each other. Fortunately, I met my roommates who were nice to me. And

As an international student, I lived with my roommates for four years. There was no parents who
could take care of me. No parents could cook or did housework for me because they stayed in
China. Therefore, when I lived with my roommates, I thought I lived in a new "family". We took
care of each other. For example, someone who was good at cooking supported to cook for
everyone, and rest of us helped him to prepare food materials. After meals, all of us washed the
dishes and clear the table. Everyone in this "family" had the responsibility to do something.
However, everyone gave without expectation of a reward. In conclusion, the definition of
"roommates" in my mind has three different meanings. The first meaning was the common meaning
which is people who shared apartment with me. The second meaning was friendship, which was the
true relationship in my point of view. The last but the most important meaning was family member,
which showed that everyone had the responsibility for our daily living when we lived together as a

Significant other: Roommate. I decided to do it with my roommate because, even though I have a
boyfriend and that would've worked out perfectly with the marriage agreement, he lives in another
country. Therefore, I think that doing it with my roommate is a good idea because I share a lot with
her since we live together.
What she said when I told her about the assignment: She replied, "Is this for a grade?" It was
funny because she couldn't believe that this was a real assignment. Her major is biomedical
sciences so she expects homework to be related to numbers or to write papers. I had to explain her the
Marriage Agreement by Alix and Martin. Also, some terms we've used in the class before. Finally,
she agreed on helping me out.
Tasks or chores that caused the most disagreement: The task that caused the most disagreement
was the one on which we have to report to maintenance if there's any problem in the apartment
(we added this one). I claimed that she should do this all the time because my English is not
perfect and I struggle a lot; I can't express my ideas very well. She said that that's not fair because
calling maintenance requires a lot of time due to the bureaucratic procedures the owners of the
apartment complex have established (calling, paper filling, staying at the apartment while they fix
the problem, etc.). We finally decided that the person who discovers the problem will call first.

The Roommates: Saving Essay
If I was in Morgan's shoes and Hannah was asking me for some financial advice and telling me
about her financial issues, I would start off by telling her how I deal with my financial plan like this.
I work part time at an insurance office and when I get payed on payday I always put back 20% of
my pay check into saving or a savings account, That way I will have it when I need it like when my
car need repairs that one time or when the landlord raised the rent and I needed a little bit more
money to pay him. Also I keep money back to spend it on stuff I want. An another reason why it a
good Idea to save and put back is that saving will help you out of tight situations like last year when

also helps you find out how close or how far you got to go to reach the goal. A good way to
determine your goal or some good words to use to make your SMART goal is, is your goal
specific like one certain thing or spread out across multiple targets an is the goal measurable like
can you determine how much time it will take to reach that goal and can you agree upon that goal
without jumping on something else. Also you need to determine if that goal is acutely realistic
like can you afford that goal, can you reach it in that time exedra, like determine if it's possible
without too much struggle. An last but not least make sure your goal is time base or schedule
where you can break it down into pieces so you can reach it in the time you

Stanford Roommate Essay

  • 1. Roommate Research Paper Roommate Nicole and Marie have been best friends on and off for seven years. They never got along. They would constantly fight and stop talking for six months to a year at a time. Why go back and forth with friendship when you could never trust and rely on Nicole anyways. Nicole and Marie decided since they were friends again (well at least for the moment) why not get an apartment together. Only if Marie actually really knew what she was getting herself into by now actually moving into a place together. It was not even a month after moving into their apartment together where it already was starting to go south. Marie worked a full–time and part–time job plus went to school full–time. She has brown hair, blue eyed angel is what most...show more content... Nicole was trying to give herself extra money for going out and drinking. She would never tell or show Marie the actual bills. Nicole also started lying about her rent money being stolen from her car. Nicole claimed she left her purse in the car with her half of the rent money and someone broke into her car and stole it, which makes no sense for the person she was of no windows being broken and she would lock her doors. Anything to try and make her feel like the victim that she was not. Nicole went out and bought a chinchilla with extra money. At first she took care of him and cleaned up after her animal. However after about a month in a half later or so of having him she decided she didn't want to take care of her chinchilla no more and left the house stinky and nasty from not cleaning his cage. Nicole begun selling anything from couches, towels, video games and even her pet chinchilla just so she could have extra cash for drinking and now smoking pot. Nicole decided having a dog would be better for her. You know her own pet therapy dog. Nicole obviously never thinks of responsibilities that come with animals or in adulthood for that matter. She did not ask the apartment managers what kind of breeds they were allowed and not allowed to have at the complex. She decided with a Boxer/Pitbull mix, in which most apartment complexes would not allow anyways. Nicole would lock Hunter and cage Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 2. Essay on Choosing the Right Roommates One of the most stressful parts of college life is not the tests, quizzes, practical, or classes, but the never ending pressure one faces when they have to decide on their next semester's rooming situations. Questions such as "Who should I room with? [or] Where should we room," haunt each student throughout the year. It is a difficult thing to cover, and occasionally feelings get hurt, but it is your right to pick with who you want to live with. It is also a decision you will have to live with for the rest of the year. Some of the ways we can avoid that stress and be more at peace with who we are rooming with is starting early, being honest with yourself and your current roommate or friends, and taking into consideration the majors and...show more content... In the end, that could make the hurt and results even worse between you and your friend than it could have been. Also, the person will end up being put with complete strangers that also don't have roommates. How would you feel if you were thrown in that situation? So, maybe it's not the best way to treat a friend. It may be hard, but talking about the rooming situation early can do a lot to limit the ending damage that may occur if you room with someone that is not compatible with your personality or if you wait until the last minute to take care of business. This damage may even be losing a friend over something that could have been fixed. Another part to talking with your friends early is honesty. Lyndsee, an interviewee in the "College housing decisions: choosing new roommates document, said that it is best to be honest about plans from the start, because you could end up losing friends over housing choices (Miller, 2006). Honesty is must in any kind of relationship and can be difficult, but if you are taking the time to talk to your friend/roommate early, you might as well be completely honest with them in the beginning. They will figure it out eventually. For example: you already told another group of people that you would live with them in a four person apartment, but haven't told your other friends of your plans, then in Get more content on HelpWriting.net

We came to a conclusion on the issue, but we were ineffective in managing it. This paper will Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 4. Social Roles In The Stanford Experiment Research Paper The stanford experiment was a study of how social roles can influence our behavior. It was a simulation that was held at Stanford University, California in 1971. Individuals were randomly chosen to play the role of a "prisoner" or a "guard". Philip Zimbardo's theory was to know if having a social role can influence our behavior. Once he began the experiment he proved that that people do change their behavior when assigned to a social role, his experiment was a success to all those who opposed. Philip Zimbardo's experiment on prison life demonstrated how quickly an individual can dissolve their own identity to fit into the social roles expected of them (UK Essays). Those assigned to play the role of guard were given sticks and sunglasses; those assigned to play the prisoner role were arrested by the Palo Alto police department, deloused, forced to wear chains and prison garments, and transported to the basement of the Stanford psychology department, which had been converted into a makeshift jail. Several of the guards became progressively more sadistic, particularly at night when they thought the cameras were off, despite being picked by chance out of the same pool as the prisoner ("Zimbardo's Stanford Prison Experiment") Psychologist World. The prisoners were humiliated and embarrassed by the guards. The guards were cruel and even made the prisoners do menial tasks. They made the prisoners clean the toilet bowls with their bare hands rather than providing Get more content on HelpWriting.net

The Stanford Prison Experiment: Reflection Stanford prison experiment reflection During the Stanford prison experiment video I did notice a few similarities of a particular experience I had when I was in the Marines, that experience was just how putting on a certain uniform can alter the way a person. A uniform of authority can shift the way a person acts or even behaves oppose to not wearing a uniform of authority. when you're not covering your identity with some article of clothing you hold an image that you want to try and protect and an image that is relatively consistent to your normal behavior, however when you shield that self–image and put let's say a mask over which conceals your identity that can completely change everything about you including the way you conduct yourself. • 6. My College Roommates College is a period of adapting from regular, socially centered life to a life more focused on studying and school work. This period of change is difficult as a balance is made between spending time with friends and making time for writing papers, deciphering mathematical equations, and fulfilling the requirements for any number of other course studies is made. Only college student's can understand the difficulty in this. As with many college students, I live off campus in my own apartment. With this comes the need to incorporate my schedule with that of a roommate in order to afford the expenses of rent and utilities. One of the problems with this is that my roommate is not a college student. This often is a problem as our priorities and personal lives are much different. It would be much easier to live with a roommate that is also a college student. Often college students work similar work schedules as they are in classes full time during the day. Since most classes are during the day, the time available to a student's work schedule is limited primarily to evenings and weekends. Many times, when working these hours, a conflict arises with a roommate that works standard hours, Monday through Friday, 9:00am until 5:00pm. Coming in late at night it is a general consideration for a roommate to respect a house "quiet time." While this is nothing but common courtesy for one another, the ability to have friends visit after work, or to watch a movie in the common living Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 7. My Experience With My Roommate Essay So far my adjustment to college has gone fairly smoothly. I have done fine with adjusting to living in a dorm. However, I wish some things are different with my roommate. I feel we get along well, but I do not feel like we are 'best friends', which I know is fine. I do okay with finding quite time in my dorm or the library. I do wish I had more 'alone time'. Meaning I am in my dorm by myself and I don't have to worry about anyone coming in. I miss that about having a bedroom to myself. While my roommate is fairly good at being quiet or to herself. She is more often times than not in the dorm. She is introverted so it takes a lot to get her to go out and socialize. I'm not trying to be rude. I just apparently don't do well being around people constantly 24/7. As I have mentioned in previous journals, I am not exactly homesick. But I am definitely missing some important people in my life, specifically my significant other. I have found ways to keep them present in my life without hindering my education or obligation. I tend to study in either my room or in the library. I find I do better when I just 'bite the bullet' and go study by myself. Get it done. Then I can go and socialize. I struggle with staying well. Healthy, I guess. I feel sick more often than I am used to. I assume that it is because I am surrounded by people constantly, I don't have a solid sleep schedule, I am eating differently than I used to and stress never helps when it comes to fighting illness. • 9. Social Norms And Apartment Analysis In my apartment my three roommates and I had a kind of seating arrangement that we followed, so in a way, it has become a sort of social norm for us. It's a lot like after the first couple weeks of a new semester you kind of have that one seat you sit in all the time in class and you kind of get upset when someone else sits in it. So, one of my roommates lays on the couch usually and the other usually lays on the opposite couch, as for me I usually get stuck with the crappy recliner. So, the other day I tried to create a little tension in the apartment. One of my roommates gets back from class later than my other roommate and myself, so I decided to take the spot of the one roommate that was already back to the apartment. • 10. Why Is Having A Roommate Essay The real lesson is not always taught in school but by the adventures and experiences you embark on. One such experience ,school does not prepare you for is having a roommate. Having a roommate can be the most amazing or the most hazardous experience ever. The idea of having a roommate is to learn to adapt to life when you are thrown into the world with a random person. The mind set of every person differs and it is important to understand and bend in such a way that no conflicts arise. You might even end up being good friends with your roommates once you have successfully understood each other. Consider these most common types of roommates. • 11. What Is The Worst Roommate Essay It's finally the time. We are leaving our parents' house, the warm and cozy nest in order to go and face wildlife or commonly called college. The excitement is building up and we're about to combust as we reach the doors of the university. We're eager to finally be able to live alone with no rules, no regulations, just ourselves and no one else to command us. We've all been through that, and we've all dreaded the exact same thing. Who's the new roommate? How's he or she going to be like? Clean? Disdainful? It was probably the first question everyone asked, walking up the stairway to hell, his or her new house for the next four months. The Worst Roommate Ever can derive into two distinct parts, two opposite poles. There is the typical OCD riddled kind of roommate, a second mom, and...show more content... The most suggested solution would be talking about it. Good communication can often be the key to problem solving. Most of the time, fights are generated by misunderstandings and the lack of consideration of the other. It's always beneficial to take the time to sort things out by talking about each roommate's feelings without omitting the other's. The roommates can agree on a time specific to talking about the issue and try to sort it in the most pacific way. It's important to be considerate and understanding towards each other. By the end of the day, it's not always about pride and how each roommate wants to make his/her point of view more valuable. Of course, talking things out cannot always be the solution, as some people just don't function that way, it all depends on each person's personality. If the roommate end up being a stubborn one, the best solution is to go see the housing service, as it's their job to solve the issues between roommates or even part them. The wellbeing of the two people comes first so it's never a wrong idea to seek for external help and the housing service is the best place to go Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 12. Description And Description Of My Roommate Essay Part A: Descriptions The subject I've chosen to write about is when my roommate (A) at the college residence wasn't pulling his weight in cleaning duties. He had never lived without his parents before and must not have realized he had to clean up after himself. Time and time again, I would have to wash his (A) dishes and pick up after him. At first, we got along super well and for a while I avoided confronting him because I figured a few dishes here and there wasn't too bad. We'd often have parties at the house and he would never help us clean up the mess the following day. Finally about half way through the semester, I confronted him and we came to a compromise that he would clean on certain days, and I would clean up the other days. It went well for the first week and then on his cleaning days he'd say I'll clean up tomorrow just leave everything where it is. Sure enough, three days later, nothing had been cleaned and the house was a disaster. I spoke to my two other roommates (B&C) about him and they agreed that they were sick of doing his chores and living with him too. The root cause must have been personality differences. In which I mean that myself, and my two other roommates (B&C) standard of cleanliness was not the same as roommate A's. Our style of living was just not the same as roommate A so we had a talk with him and told him we would like for him to move out. Upon our request, he had moved out soon thereafter. A couple days later, he was disgruntled and Get more content on HelpWriting.net

Unfortunately that made them toss me head first into more sports and less time to disappear in fantasy world. I don't quite remember all the books in my lifetime, but I can clearly recall the books that totally made me who I am. • 14. How to Find the Perfect Roommate Facing the fact that you have to find the "perfect" roommate you have to make a decision about what the ideal roommate would be for you. Just because you are best friends with someone or your friend suggested that you live with them doesn't necessarily mean that they will be the ideal roommate for you. If you have determined what you are looking for in a roommate you can begin your search. You would first have to go through all of your friends to see if they were looking for a place to stay. • 16. Different Types of Roomates Roommates Roommates Having trouble with your roommate? It is hard to get along with certain roommates especially if you both have different personalities. People can have many different types of roommates, which makes it complicated to know what type of personality he or she has. Roommates can be easy to live with, or very difficult; you just need to set boundaries. After reading this, it could help you decide what to do if you are stuck in a situation with these types of roommates. The Moocher What is a moocher? The perfect example of a moocher is shown above in image 1.This type of roommate is someone who always asks you for things, and doesn't plan on repaying you for it. They would always eat you food and use your toothpaste and other necessities without asking or telling you. It is one of the worst kinds of roommates you can have. They would constantly forget their wallet when you go somewhere with them so they would not have to pay. It is one of those roommates you get annoyed with because they do not give you anything in return. Advantages There are not that many advantages to having a moocher as a roommate, but there are a few. One of the advantages is that moochers are successful because people are sheepish about confronting them. Moochers are very tricky and smart when they are trying to get something from somebody. They are usually nice to you when they are asking for money. One of the best qualities they have is that they do not stay up all night, so Get more content on HelpWriting.net
  • 17. Definition Essay Roommates Definition of Roommates As we know, "roommate" is a word, which is combined by "room" and "mate". Therefore, according to "Dictionary.com", the meaning of "roommate" is "a person who is assigned to share or shares a room or apartment with another or others". Personally, I believe that my roommates are not only the people who share the house or live with me, but also they are my closed friends who know me well. In my mind, the definition of roommates is people who I regard as both friends and family members at the same time. Since I studied abroad from China, I have started my new life–style, which was my first time to live with roommates. In the beginning, I hoped that I could have roommates who were kind and friendly. At least, we could keep peaceful if we couldn't get along with each other. Fortunately, I met my roommates who were nice to me. And we soon...show more content... As an international student, I lived with my roommates for four years. There was no parents who could take care of me. No parents could cook or did housework for me because they stayed in China. Therefore, when I lived with my roommates, I thought I lived in a new "family". We took care of each other. For example, someone who was good at cooking supported to cook for everyone, and rest of us helped him to prepare food materials. After meals, all of us washed the dishes and clear the table. Everyone in this "family" had the responsibility to do something. However, everyone gave without expectation of a reward. In conclusion, the definition of "roommates" in my mind has three different meanings. The first meaning was the common meaning which is people who shared apartment with me. The second meaning was friendship, which was the true relationship in my point of view. The last but the most important meaning was family member, which showed that everyone had the responsibility for our daily living when we lived together as a whole Get more content on HelpWriting.net

I decided to do it with my roommate because, even though I have a boyfriend and that would've worked out perfectly with the marriage agreement, he lives in another country. Therefore, I think that doing it with my roommate is a good idea because I share a lot with her since we live together. What she said when I told her about the assignment: She replied, "Is this for a grade?" It was funny because she couldn't believe that this was a real assignment. Her major is biomedical sciences so she expects homework to be related to numbers or to write papers. I had to explain her the Marriage Agreement by Alix and Martin. I claimed that she should do this all the time because my English is not perfect and I struggle a lot; I can't express my ideas very well.
