2. HISTORY This Center was founded in 1985. It is part of ASAEC (Asociaci ó n Argentina de Estudios Canadienses) and its main office is located in the Facultad de Ciencias Econ ó micas -Universidad Nacional de C ó rdoba. Since its creation, the mission has been the diffusion of Canadian values and culture, inside the country and abroad. Its main objectives are to carry out, promote and collaborate with all type of activities related to the diffusion of Canadian civilization.

HISTORY During its almost 24-year presence, more than two hundred different cultural activities have been organized, including courses, conferences, meetings, seminars, symposia, film festivals, concerts and exhibitions of Canadian books, drawings, and posters. Five universities of C ó rdoba city -Universidad Nacional de C ó rdoba, Universidad Cat ó lica de C ó rdoba, Universidad Blas Pascal, Universidad Siglo XXl, Universidad Tecnol ó gica Nacional-, and the two state universities of the Province of C ó rdoba -Universidad de R í o Cuarto and Universidad de Villa Mar í a- participate of our activities. IDEST – R í o Tercero- has also had an important Canadian activity.

6. CULTURAL & CANADIAN ACTIVITIES PROMOTION Our mission has been the diffusion of Canadian values and culture, inside the country and abroad. For this reason we began to create links in order to bring Canadian experts to teach in our courses, seminars and congresses. We support Canadian visitors, offering wide information through all the Argentinian provinces and foreign countries. Presentation of Dr. Jorge Virchez Scholarship, (plane tickets and 2-week stay in Canada). The CSC provides information about the Canadian government scholarships, in all their forms, and offers advice and assistance to everyone who needs them. CULTURAL & CANADIAN ACTIVITIES PROMOTION Development, production and publication of Electronic Journal, with 5 volumes so far: Qu é bec 400, IV International Cultural Heritage Conference, Regionalism and Young Canadianists. We always offer Canadian Films, at the Auditorium Facultad de Lenguas-Universidad de C ó rdoba.
10. EDUCATION & YOUTH The CSC has as a main objetive to promote scholarly study, research, teaching and publication about Canada in all disciplines and to enhance communication among its members to facilitate and develop such scholarly activities. The CSC keeps a strong relationship with High Schools, since 2006 we have developed the Graphic Desing Contest named “My vision of Canada” at IPEM Amadeo Sabattini, directed by Arq. Aníbal Manavella. The works are evaluated and the best ones awarded, with the attendance of the Principal and Vice-principal from the school, professors and students.
11. EDUCATION & YOUTH Awards Ceremony: Awards given to the winners of the contest “Mi visi ó n de ´Canada”, at IPEM - Escuela Amadeo Sabattini, Plaza de las Am é ricas, C ó rdoba. The Center helped to sponsor the 13th Annual Art Exhibition of children with special needs. Awards given to young canadianists by Robert Lalibert é in the International Cultural Heritage Conference. IPEM 246 Dr. Amadeo Sabattini students visiting CIRQUE DU SOLEIL show. International Writing Contest: “Dict é e Des Am é riques – Qu é bec,” at Alianza Francesa de C ó rdoba, sponsored by and with the participation of CSC C ó rdoba.
12. CULTURAL DIVERSITY Highlighting the contribution of the Original Nations and of immigration in the history of Canada and Argentina. Representative of the Original Nations showing her comunity products. Debate “Cultural Diversity of the Original Nations” in C ó rdoba City Hall. Meeting “Cultural Diversity” in Comodoro Rivadavia. Debate “Cultural Diversity of the Original Nations” in IV International Cultural Heritage Conference. EXHIBITION TOTEMS HAIDA CULTURE: - Comments and explanations of Haida Culture. In C ó rdoba at Museo Antropol ó gico, Alliance Francaise, High Schools (Zorrilla de San Mart í n) and in institutes in C ó rdoba Province, Uruguay and Paraguay.
13. ENVIRONMENT In 2007, we began links with Change of Climate from the Environmental and Development Secretary of Argentina. Dr. Gilles Patry (President of Ottawa University) and Dr. Carlos Pr ó speri (Assessor of Federal Government) presented conference: “ Water in Canada” and “The water problems”. There were workshops in Buenos Aires, C ó rdoba and R í o Cuarto on Antartica. Publishing of CD ¨Los polos y el calentamiento del planeta.¨ Author: Dr. Carlos Pr ó speri.
14. INSTITUTIONAL RELATIONSHIP Since its creation, the mission has been the collaboration and friendship links creation, with all type of institutions to promote and diffuse activities related to the Canadian civilization, with the goal of showing Canada in our country and comunity. FUTURE ACTIVITIES The CANADIAN STUDIES CENTER of CÓRDOBA continues to work aiming at the dissemination of the Canadian culture, creating ties and interdisciplinary approaches in the following areas: - Peace and Security. - Relations with North America and with the Americas. - Governance (democracy, rule of law, human rights). - Environment. - Energy. - Diversity and Multiculturalism.
