2. Ever used Seussville.com with your students? It’s a great site for readers, emerging readers and non-readers… … BUT … It requires reading to navigate the site! So … how can you support your students … and set them up to be successful at using the site independently???

3. The initial screen requires a choice of bandwidth …

4. Next comes the choice of where to go … they might choose playground …

5. In which case they are presented with an indescript text list nestled inside an array of additional options … in a seemingly invisible box… with a scroll bar that doesn’t seem attached to anything!

8. A picture of your computer screen can be captured and pasted into any application you like. Hold down the Ctrl key and press the Print Screen key (upper right) It doesn’t appear that anything has happened – BUT – you have placed a copy of your screen image on your computer’s Office Clipboard.

11. Once an image is pasted from the clipboard … You may want to trim it down - to show just what you want… You can use the cropping tool on the Picture Toolbar to do just this!

12. Here are some cropping basics… Crop as close as you can on the first pass. If you need to perform finer cropping – enlarge the image and crop again… If you over-crop – you can always un-crop … the rest is still there – just not viewable. If you can’t find the picture toolbar … Click on the picture… If this didn’t do it – Go to the View menu, Toolbars, Picture to turn it on. This toolbar floats – you can drag it up into your standard toolbar area if you like.

15. In Microsoft Word, paste and crop images that represent target activities…

17. Right Click on an image… Select Hyperlink from the pop-up menu.

18. A hyperlink dialogue box will appear. You’ll need to copy the web address from your target website and paste it into the ‘Address’ field.
