Martijn de Waal is a writer and researcher. Together with Michiel de Lange, he co-founded The Mobile City conference and weblog. His main themes of interest are new media and urban culture. He has worked with different partner organizations (Hivos, The Mondriaan Foundation, Dutch Public Broadcasting, The Dutch fund for Public Broadcasting, the Netherlands Architecture Institute) and lectured at different Universities and public institutions. The last few years he has contributed to several publications, amongst others the catalog for the 2007 International Biennal of Architecture in Rotterdam, the book MEDIACITY: Situations, Practices and Encounters published by the Bauhaus University Media
