RESEARCH: PHOTO JOURNAL
Thank you for participating in our research project and for your efforts in completing the pages of this photo journal.

There are several things we’d like you to tell us about, ranging from what you do for fun to what types of devices you use to watch videos, to what you think
defines innovation. There's no right or wrong way to do this and there are no good or bad answers – we’re most interested in your opinions and
perspectives.

There are several places in this journal where we'd like you to include photos. It's always better if you are in the picture, whenever possible! There are no
rules, however, on where the pictures come from. You can use your own photos, take new ones or download images online. Whatever works for you is fine.
Just try to keep it feeling as personal as possible. Think of this as a living scrapbook that contains your thoughts and ideas along with pictures and images.

We'd like to receive your completed journal no later than November 10th. You can email us at michelle@nucleusbranding.comand we will give you a link to
a website where you can upload your journal digitally or you may print it out and mail it to us at the address below.

It will likely take you about 90 minutes to complete your journal. And, because we really value your time, we will send you $150 once we’ve received your
completed journal.

In case you are wondering what we do with the information you share, we will use your journal to help compile a perspective on what and how people think
about these different topics and what's important to you. In addition to these journals, we are speaking with people in person about these issues, and
collectively, we hope to paint a great portrait of understanding for our client.

Rest assured, none of your personal information will be shared with anyone outside of our immediate team. We don't sell or share your contact information
and none of your ideas or insights will ever be linked back to you directly. We may use some of the images you share with us or quotes from you in our
report, but none of these will ever be made public. Your confidentiality is important to us.

In order to keep track of all of the people participating in this project, we ask that you please email us or give us a call to confirm that you received this
journal and are planning to complete it. This is very important as it will help us manage this project on our end.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you again and we will look forward to receiving your journal.

RETURN YOUR COMPLETED PRINTED PHOTO JOURNAL TO:

Life-Changing Innovation
What does the term “Innovation” mean to you? When is it great and when is it not so great? Why?

Innovation means “New” in terms of ideas and growing I think it’s great because evolving along with
function ability is always a great thing. The only way I can think of innovation being negative is when it
used with out making sure it’s needed or functional.

When you think about products and services in your life in general, what most recently has been the
most life-changing? I would say the use of Social media and digital technology in a way I almost feel
like ive lost some personably qualities because the comfort of technology makes it where you don’t
have to actually have human contact with people in order to know what they are going through or to
communicate with them.

What product or service has been the best at solving a problem you had? I would say the ease of
searching things on my Macbook. This solves a lot of questions and problems for me.

What product or service has been the most innovative? I would say the cell phone this device evolved
so much that’s it’s literally a one stop device.
The Most Innovative Thing in Your Life

In thinking about the most innovative products and services in
your life --- which is the one you could not live without?

Give us 3 reasons why:

1. My cellphone because it’s such a important part of
communication

A picture of the most innovative product
2. My macbook because I need it do do research and stay in the or service you could not live without.
know

3. My ipod because I can’t see myself not being able to tune out
the loonies on NYC transit without it

How often do you use the Television set in your home today? Has that changed at all over the past few years?
Months? I use it often and I would say that it changed over the years because now not only can I watch tv bu I
can also surf the web, play games and watch movies on my 1 tv set

Do you use other devices that are connected to your TV set? (e.g. Roku, Apple TV, Boxee, Playstation, Xbox,
etc.)
Yes the Wii and home theater

Why did you decide to get these devices and how do you use them? I decided to get the Wii to make myself
more active while doing a inactive activity. I also purchased the Wii for the Netflix function. I purchased the Home
theater to make TV watching more enjoyable with company.

How have they changed your television watching (for better or worse)?
They changed it for the best because now I can do more then watch tv

What could be better about the experience? If this was included in the tv

Finding out “What’s on”
How do you decide what you are going to watch?
Depends on my mood or if I missed a show sometimes I feel like a good movie other times I like to catch up on
old episodes I missed

How do you decide what device to use to watch? Depends on my location if im home I would usually take
advantage of the bigger screens to get the old fashion essence of watching tv

What are the best ways to search, find and navigate different media?

Outside of television, what are the best examples of ways to search, find and navigate all the content that is out
there? The World Wide Web, google is great on finding things to watch and determining from different reviews
weather the show is worth your time or not.

How could searching for stuff to watch get even better? If it was available directly through the tv ex… when
browsing for a show you seen a great synopsis or preview and maybe even reviews of the content
Problem solving
What are the top 3 things that you wish you could do with your television (cable TV), streaming video content and
internet connection that you can’t do today?

Television (cable TV)
1. Have more access to the internet and movies
2.Have the option of watch movies that is actually showing in theaters to be shown on your TV for a fee the same
as a movie ticket or maybe a little more because the movie maker has to make money also you can have 5 people
watch a movie you paid 15 bucks for and they would have had to pay 15 bucks each at the theater none the less
that would be a epic move if available

3. Since smellavision probably would never happen I’m going to say make tv shows more interactive

Streaming Video
1.Faster internet speeds
2.Less crashing
3.Less freezing

Internet Connection
1.Faster speeds
2. More availability more coverage
3.More internet providers that don’t require cable or some type of unnescary package
Your Cable Provider
Who is your cable provider?CableVison

How long have you been a customer? 1 year

Why did you choose this provider ? Because it was the only thing available

What has been your best experience with your cable provider? I would say multiple channels

If you were to describe attributes of your cable provider what would they be? Finish this sentence in three ways:

My cable provider is Expensive
My cable provider isMy only option
My cable provider isa gimmick

What can your cable provider do or offer you in order to become more innovative?Different packages and options
far as channels and functionality
More pictures of me and my life

Feel free to share any additional photos
of you and your life that will help us to get
                             to know you better

  • 1. RESEARCH: PHOTO JOURNAL Thank you for participating in our research project and for your efforts in completing the pages of this photo journal. There are several things we’d like you to tell us about, ranging from what you do for fun to what types of devices you use to watch videos, to what you think defines innovation. There's no right or wrong way to do this and there are no good or bad answers – we’re most interested in your opinions and perspectives. There are several places in this journal where we'd like you to include photos. It's always better if you are in the picture, whenever possible! There are no rules, however, on where the pictures come from. You can use your own photos, take new ones or download images online. Whatever works for you is fine. Just try to keep it feeling as personal as possible. Think of this as a living scrapbook that contains your thoughts and ideas along with pictures and images. We'd like to receive your completed journal no later than November 10th. You can email us at michelle@nucleusbranding.comand we will give you a link to a website where you can upload your journal digitally or you may print it out and mail it to us at the address below. It will likely take you about 90 minutes to complete your journal. And, because we really value your time, we will send you $150 once we’ve received your completed journal. In case you are wondering what we do with the information you share, we will use your journal to help compile a perspective on what and how people think about these different topics and what's important to you. In addition to these journals, we are speaking with people in person about these issues, and collectively, we hope to paint a great portrait of understanding for our client. Rest assured, none of your personal information will be shared with anyone outside of our immediate team. We don't sell or share your contact information and none of your ideas or insights will ever be linked back to you directly. We may use some of the images you share with us or quotes from you in our report, but none of these will ever be made public. Your confidentiality is important to us. In order to keep track of all of the people participating in this project, we ask that you please email us or give us a call to confirm that you received this journal and are planning to complete it. This is very important as it will help us manage this project on our end. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you again and we will look forward to receiving your journal.
