The document discusses the EXPERIMEDIA project which aims to accelerate research on innovative Future Media Internet services through testbeds. The testbeds will support experimentation of new forms of social interaction and experiences in both online and real-world communities. The project will engage users from diverse cultures through its research and development cycles and provide insights into how Future Media Internet systems impact their target ecosystems. It will be carried out by an 11-partner consortium over 3 years with a budget of 6.7 million Euros, 4.9 million of which is funded by the European Commission.

The objective of this presentation is to provide an overview of the EXPERIMEDIA FIRE Facility Building project. A testbed facility aimed at supporting experimentation for the Future Media Internet.
The objective of this slide is to set the scene for the motivation for the project by highlighting what we think experimenters are looking for when developing social and networked media systems. The idea is to paint a picture of the environment provided by the facility.Imagine a place where technologists can explore new forms of social interaction and user experience enabled by their innovative Future Media Technologies that brings together online and real-world communities around exciting live eventsImagine a place where technologies can engage with users from culturally diverse communities as part of their research and development activitiesImagine a place where technologists can access multi-displinary expertise that can help them understand the socio-economic impact of their research and routes to market for new products and servies
The objective of this slide is to outline the kinds of experiments and technology advances that the facility is looking to support in like with the challenges of the networked media community. The Future Media Internet is largely about facilitating collective experiences by linking people to each other and to locations in ways that capture the popular imagination. The facility is targeting the networked media communities and is seeking experiments that exploit social and network media systems, 3D internet and augmented reality technologies to deliver enhanced experiences. In addition new dynamic services infrastructures can be explored that consider socially distributed, fixed and mobile content. This leads to the next two slides (4,5) that provide examples of how service infrastructrues need to adapt to the environment (but there’s no need to show them in this presentation)
The purpose of this slide is to summarise the project and is really the conclusion to the talk.So this is EXPERIMEDIA. A facility for the experimentation of social and networked media systems that combines technology with diverse venues, exciting live events and communities that are incentivised for participation in experiments by existing interests. As with all facilities we will be looking for experiments through open calls and other relationships with STREP projects being submitted to call 8.
The purpose of this slide is to summarise the consortium. No need to take longer than 5secs on this oneThe project is coordinated by IT Innovation, it started in Oct-12 and will run for 3 years until Sept-14.
