This document provides instructions for checking the status of a passport application online or by phone. Users can sign up to receive automatic email updates about their application status by entering their personal information on the listed website. The status of your application should be available online 7-10 days after applying.
For your convenience, you can sign up to receive automatic updates by email on the status of your
application. To register for this service, select the "Check Application Status" below and enter your
email address after locating your pending application.

TO CHECK THE STATUS OF YOUR APPLICATION, YOU WILL NEED YOUR:
Last Name
Include suffixes (Jones III, Patton Jr, etc.)
Include hyphens as appropriate (Jackson-Smith)
Date of Birth (MM/DD/YYYY)
Last Four Digits of Social Security Number
You may also contact the National Passport Information Center if you have any questions regarding
your application or other general passport questions.
Call the National Passport Information Center 24 hours a day to make an appointment at a passport
agency.
Enrolling in this free service will allow us to better assist you in case of an emergency while you are
abroad.
