Public Involvement / Citizen Feedback
Public involvement has been an important element of the process
o The Penn Daw Special Study Task Force convened from 2010 to 2012 to help identify
community issues and evaluate changes as part of the Penn Daw Comprehensive Plan
Amendment
o Stakeholder meetings were held in early 2013 to discuss transportation design alternatives
for intersections along North Kings Highway within the Penn Daw CBC
o Community Meeting was held in May 2013, providing opportunity for feedback on
transportation design alternatives
o Community Meeting was held in June 2014, followed by online voting, resulting in the
selection of option 8C and 8D for further analysis
o Community Meeting was held in December 2014, highlighting operational functionality,
safety and walkability of Options 8C and 8D
o Public comment period was held in Fall 2015, showing clear public sentiment for retaining
the School Street traffic signal under preferred Option 8C
o Further operational analysis was conducted by County Staff, showing option 8C works with
signal at School Street (labeled Option 8C1)
o Option 8C1 selected as the FINAL PROPOSED OPTION
