This makes education relevant to real life problems. Such Work based education in schools developed 'Capability to Act' in students along with 'Capability to think'.

Focus of CSR • Rural unemployment : Pre-vocational Training Introduction to basic technology (IBT) in schools • Need of mainstreaming women:  Women’s empowerment through Self Help groups (SHGs) • Degraded soils/ water scarcity:  Soil and Water Conservation • Decreasing livestock production Grazing land development Animal health care camps • Poor access to primary health care: Access to Health facilities at minor cost VIGYAN ASHRAM

Needs in the area • Suzlon’s biggest wind farm in Asia in District Dhule-Nandurbar • Dhule-Nandurbar - a backward, draught prone districts with majority tribal population • Village expectations -permanent employment in Corporates • Mis match of requirement of highly skilled, well educated few person power and availability of illiterate / uneduated / unskilled tribal villagers • Hence potential for technical training VIGYAN ASHRAM

Education System - The Backdrop • Non availability of schools in rural area • Poor quality of education • Teachers not up to the mark • Theoretical Bookish Knowledge • technical education not easily available • Poor infrastructure • Gap between need of the industry and education • Illiterate,Un-educated, Poor & passive parents • Language – Problem • Male dominated society - discrimanation between Girls & Boys • Illiteracy • Un-educated Population • Less confident youths • Less opportunities • Shortage of person power • Gap between rich and poor • People in general Interested in Easy money, corruption • Cheating, Thefts, riots • Childeren / Girls / Women more harassed • Cheap labour • Adiction, alcoholism, bad habits Poverty Malnutrition Migration Braindrain Unemployment Agitation Increasing gap between rich and poor Poor governance Mean Politics Lack of hope for change
  7. 7. 4 lakhs/yr Employment generation in organised sector Out of 170 lakhs population per year only 4 lakhs employed in organised sector i.e. 166 lakhs are left out of main stream every year.

School becomes – production cum training center • Entire village including school being customer are involved in the project • Students get opportunity to work with master trainer / artisan on the live projects • Right from the conception to implementation stage students get first hand practical experience • Ex-students, women, un-employed youths are also involved • Villagers get products / services at reasonable cost • School gets community service charges, fees from the students which is used for the sustainability of the project VIGYAN ASHRAM
