Empathy Map
•I cant study later
•I never thought about my career, never had a clear career path
•Never got a clear idea of what I was capable of
•I was an average student
•I will take whatever comes my way, if it is a good option
•Nobody told me, these are the Options and this is what you are
good at, you should do this
•My marks were not good enough to get me into what I wanted
•People don’t understand what they are studying just mug it and
produce it
•These days people not consider not having some option
•not really much you can do after a BA
•Shifts streams and subjects depending upon the interests that time,
most convenient options
•Takes advice from family and friends
•Does what the peers do
•doesn’t want to do conventional things, but there are no options and
hence is forced to do something conventionally
•Tries to form a connect between what is learnt and what she does at
her job
•Tries to work out things, and make better of things that have
happened
•Tries to figure out a way
•Tries to get as much exposure from the available resources
•Relies on family for career guidance
•Discussions, mugging, written tests
•Selects best options available
•Applies at colleges
•Discusses with circle of influence
•Watches and learns
•Feels helpless
•Feels the education system doesn’t add any value in finding the career
•Confused
•People skills are very important when you start working
•Most of the skills required to start working can be acquired by doing,
and if you have some common sense, and if you listen to your seniors
•cant find the relevance
•This system, has been succesfull in India
•Teamwork is very important
•Need to be updated with technology
•Everyone needs guidance at the right moment
•bound by marks
•Good colleges require good marks
•Aptitude is more important than marks
•Basic human understanding is the key
•not using any of what I learned in school
•takes the convenient route
•Didn’t have much scope ahead in my chosen areas
•Practical work matters a lot, rather than bookinsh knowledge
•Mugging is of no use, cant get you anywhere
•Marks/grades hold no meaning
•Doesn’t think beyond the available options for a career
•u need to carve out very niche careers out of humanities
•Average students do not have a very focus career path decided
•Links marks to career focus
•Thinks Very safely, within what was available

Insights
•Family has a big role in decision making
•Career options are very limited and very traditional
•Careers in India are very traditional and demand traditional learning, however things are changing
•Focus should be given to helping students realize their true potential and finding what makes them happy, what
they are good at
•Students are bound by age, marks in making the decisions
•Need to be made aware of what can happen in terms of career
•Its ok to not do the usual
•Career guidance needs to be specific to the students and not as per the user
•Students need to connect to a forum of professionals from diverse backgrounds that can foster their decision
making skills
•Career choices are based on cultural, economical and social factors
