3. And… the RESULTS reveal that:
Score
Range
Interpretation
9-10
You love and like Math that much. You appreciate mathematics.
You’re a math enthusiast.
7-8
You have the innate capacity to love math; you are interested in
Mathematics.
5-6
Sometimes, you love math; sometimes you don’t.
3-4
There are more times that you enjoy doing other things than doing the
math.
3 and
below
You have very slim interest in Math.
4. HOWEVER….
• It does not mean that if your score is low that
you are not good in Math at all; it only shows
a certain degree of liking or disliking towards
math. If your score is low, then there are
things that you need to know in order to
improve your liking in Math…
• DO YOU WANT TO KNOW
THESE WAYS?
5. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• 1. BE POSITIVE
• Have a positive mindset. Tell yourself that
learning mathematics is great, fun and
beneficial too.
6. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• 2. KNOW TERMINOLOGY
• One should become familiar with the
vocabulary. Having a math dictionary at your
side is a huge help. There are many
mathematical terminologies that need to be
understood.
7. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• 2.1 KNOW SOME SHORTCUTS
• Multiplying by 11….
• Multiplying a 2-digit number by another 2digit…starting and ending in 1
• Squaring a number ending and starting in 5…
• Adding and Subtracting Unit Fractions
8. Multiplying by 11…
• What is 172 X 11?
• What is 234 X 11?
• What is 12345 X 11?
• What is 86 X 11?
• What is 94 X11?
9. Multiplying 2 X 2-digit number starting
in 1
•
•
•
•
•
•
16 X 12 = 192
13 X 15 = 195
14X 12 =
13 X 19 = 247
16 X 17 = 272
13 X 18 = 234
10. Multiplying 2 X 2-digit number ending
in 1
•
•
•
•
•
•
21 X 61 = 1281
31 X 51 = 1581
41X 21 = 861
31 X 91 = 2821
61 X 71 = 4331
81 X 51= 4131
13. Adding and Subtracting Unit Fractions

DISCOVER!
½ + 1/3 = 5/6
¼ + 1/7= 11/28
¼-1/3 =-1/12
What is the result of the following?
1/5+1/11=?
1/3+1/8=?
1/5-1/8=?
14. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• 3. BE REGULAR
• Dedicate some time to learn math
each day. Make sure to allot
at least an hour a day.
• An hour day makes your Math Okay!
15. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• 4. PRACTICE
• It makes you perfect. Solve as many math
problems as you can. In this way, you may get
good feeling and get used to solving various
math problems
16. FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
• In the process of practicing and repeated
solving, try to get some easier steps…
• In solving this 16-5-3-23-39+16+75,
regrouping according to signs can be used.
17. FOOD FOR THOUGHT!
• Observe characteristics; i.e. getting the slope,
y-intercept and x-intercept of linear equations
Given
Slope
Y-intercept
X-intercept
y= 2x+4
2
4
-2
y=5x-10

y=4x-20
y=7x-14
y=3x+7
y=2x-15
y=3x+10
18. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• 5. SEEK HELP
• Consult the more knowledgeable. You can
always seek help on something confusing and
things you don't know yet
19. In seeking help…
• One can ask for the explanation of the solution
• One can collaborate with another. One can
present a solution subject for critiquing.
• One can discuss things that are not so clear
• NEVER SEEK HELP FOR THE PURPOSE OF JUST
LEETTING THE MORE KNOWLEDGEABLE GIVE THE
CORRECT ANSWER!
20. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• 6. Play Math!...Connect math to the real
world!
•HOW?
21. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• You can play puzzles….quiz bees with
friends…number games…number magic
• EX.
• Think of any number multiply by 2, then subtract
8, then add 2, divide the result by 2. Give me the
answer, I’ll give the original number. (+III)
• Think of any number multiply by 4, then add 5
then subtract 3..then the result must be divided
by 2, give me the result and I’ll give the original
number. (-I/II)
22. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• 7. Don't give up
• All it takes is a little patience, a little
confidence and creativity to really love math!
Don't be afraid to make mistakes.
Experimentation and solving problems are
exactly what math is all about. If you're having
problems solving a difficult equation, don't
give up! Ask for help!
23. TIPS IN LOVING AND IN LIKING
MATHEMATICS!
• REMEMBER!
• Even the great mathematicians, EINSTEIN,
EUCLID, PYTHAGORAS, ARISTOTLE, etc. didn’t
get the answers to their questions right away.
They were even frustrated; but, they never
gave up. They persevered..Look at them now,
even they are gone…their memories and
legacies LEAVE ON…
