2. WHAT IS ?
• Andalusia´s day is celebrated the 28th of february
and commemorates the 28th of february in 1980
referendum on the Statute of Autonomity of
Andalusia, in which the andalusian electorate voted
for the statute than made Andalusia an autonomous
community of Spain

3. How …?
• In many municipalities and cities of Andalusia, people
decorate their balconies with the flag of
Andalusía and with bunting echoing its green-and-
white bars. Cultural competitions are often held in
conjunction with the day.

4. • In some cities, especially in the Málaga area, schools
are closed for a semana cultural, also known
as Semana blanca. The Friday before is often a day of
celebration in schools with a traditional Andalusian
breakfast, consisting of a slice of toast with a thin
layer of olive oil and orange juice

and insignia of Andalusia, its history and customs, put
on plays and sing the regional anthem, the Himno de
andalucía

• A lot of poets write poem to Andalusia and her
province ( Málaga, Granada, Sevilla, Almería, Huelva,
Córdoba and Jaén ).
• The most famous poets in Andalusía are: Federíco
García Lorca, Rafael Alberti, Antonio machado.
