how internet evolved in 50 years
2. • 1962 :
Professor Joseph Licklider
Time of war
To coordinate different research center of the
American countries, Professor Joseph Licklider, imagine
in 1962 a computer networking system to rapidly
exchange information.
This is the first packet transfer network developed in
the United States.
• 1969 : Arpanet the first internet network
“Arpanet” was a military and academic information network.
The first connection are between 4 computers of different US
universities
3. • 1971 : Arpanet network in US
• 1972 : Email
23 computers are connected to
ARPANET. Arpanet have also a sending
email developed by Ray Tomlinson. a
computer engineer.
The Email will be born the following year
in 1972
4. During the war, The principle of Arpanet network
is that if a node is destroyed, the information will
take a different path. To go to the destination.

5. • 1974 : Arpanet and protocol
The network is developing and the communication protocols are increasing, complicating the exchange of
information.
Vinton G. Cerf and Bob Kahn developed the TCP / IP
protocol that will become the standard of
communication protocols.

6. • 1991 : world wide web
The first page of world wide web :
The concept of web page
appears with Tim Berners-lee an
English scientist. Born in london.
Who will work at the European
Nuclear Research Center, today
called CERN.
Tim Berners-Lee imagine a pages, which allowed to enter information and could jump from page to page to get
other information. And this information was all available on a network, which the CERN researchers can share and
communicate their work.
They Called the network and page "world wide web" At first it was to exchange text and later images.
7. • 1994 : web page and Tim Berners-lee
He leave CERN to go to MIT to founded the W3C (World Wide Web Consortium)
A non-profit organization whose mission is to promote technology on the web. Make it evolve in the right
direction. Tim Berners-Lee will develop the html, http protocol, the url format.
