2. Future Internet from a business perspective
«The full potential of the Future Internet is accessible to, relevant for, and put to use
by European enterprises including SMEs. The Internet thus becomes a universal
business system on which new values can be created by competing as well as
collaborating enterprises - incumbent as well as new - through innovation in a level
playing field, with sustainable positive benefits for the economy, society and the
environment.»
Vision defined in FInES Position Paper, September 2009
Samos 2012 Summit, July 5th, 2011 2
4. 0 ENSEMBLE is about supporting and promoting Future Internet research
activities from an Enterprise perspective (i.e. taking responsibility for the
revision of the Research Roadmap or the coordination of the Task Forces)…
0 ENSEMBLE is about structuring and systematizing the scientific knowledge
around Enterprise Interoperability (EI) over the years…
0 ENSEMBLE is about creating a sustainable system infrastructure for the
Future Internet Enterprise Systems (FInES) community…
0 ENSEMBLE is about collaborating with researchers, practitioners and
projects…

7. With an Enterprise Interoperability Science Base (EISB) defined with a long-
term problem solving view as opposed to short-term solution provisioning, and
comprising a new set of concepts, theories and principles derived from
established and emerging sciences, it will be possible to harvest the new
technology paradigms of the Future Internet reusing existing EI methods and
tools, and avoiding repeating research and missing opportunities.

including all the systems within their boundaries
and the external systems that they utilize or are
affected by, in order to cooperate seamlessly,
