Applications
9. #1 Make your lights wireless
• Interface WiART based street light
controller (SLC) to existing
streetlights to make them
wireless.
• WiART is a low power radio
frequency module which supports
two way wireless communication.
• Supports relay ON / OFF and 0-10
V analog output for dimming.
• All wireless lights form a mesh
network and support hopping of
data and larger area coverage.
10. #2 Form a wireless network
• Automatic wireless mesh network formation.
• Typical range between two lights: approx 50 meters.
• WiART mesh network supports hopping of data and hence very larger area
coverage in tens of kilometers.
• Automatic network – self forming, self healing, self discovery!
Wireless street light in a mesh network
11. #3 Connect it to Internet
• Add data concentrator unit (DCU) in the network.
• DCU has a front end of WiART and backend of GPRS and Ethernet.
• DCU acts as two way communication gateway between every light and
Internet based cloud server application.
• DCU supports override switch for controlling the lights in case of
emergency.
Wireless street light connected to a DCU
12. #4 Remote monitoring and control
• User touch points are added – Internet / mobile / smart phone / tablet .
• Cloud based server application helps you monitor and control lights.
o ON / OFF / dimming control via time based schedule.
o Configure – site / user.
o Report for audit, consumption.
o Notification / alarm / fault alerts.
Wireless street light connected to cloud and mobile through DCU
13. • Wireless solution – No hassle of wiring!
• Retrofit, can be integrated with a wide range of streetlights.
• Single data concentrator unit supports 200+ street lights.
• The wireless network is self forming, self healing, self discoverable
and supports 25 hops – completely automatic.
• Fault detection and notification over email.
• Optional metering for street light electricity consumption.
• Optional motion sensor / light sensor input supported for localized
control.

16. Case study #1: Lit-Green for tunnel lighting
• WiART enable lighting nodes with ON / OFF / dimming control.
• Motion sensors are interfaced to detect the location of vehicles.
• Predefined logic to control the intensity of light (dimming / ON / OFF) based on the
vehicle location sensed by motion sensor and to ensure optimized visibility to the
driver.
• Other lights which are not in use are dimmed or switched OFF.
• Completely wireless retrofit solution.. No wires!
• Example:
• When vehicle reaches entry point of tunnel, light ahead are wireless updated to
glow at predefined intensity.
17. Case study #2: Lit-Green for petrol pump station
• The fuel pump station lighting solution consists of WiART enable lighting nodes
with ON / OFF control and dimming.
• Motion sensors are interfaced to detect the location of vehicles, such as at ENRTY
and EXIT points.
Predefined logic to control the intensity of light (dimming / ON / OFF) based on
the vehicle location sensed by motion sensor and to ensure optimized visibility to
the driver.
•
• Other lights which are not in use are dimmed or switched OFF.
• Example:
• When vehicle motion when sensed at entry of petrol pump station pre
configured lights shall switch ON other lights shall be in dimming mode /
switch OFF.
• When the vehicle leaves the station, motion is detected by the motion sensor
at exit of petrol pump station. Lights shall switch OFF after a predefined time
of interval.

20. Q & A
Q. Does the solution work with existing lights?
A. Yes. The street light controller (SLC) is a retrofit solution and can
work with existing lighting panels and fixtures of all types.
Q. Our roads are not straight, will the solution still work?
A. Yes. SLC is based on WiART series of modules that have 360 degree
wireless connectivity. It is able to communicate across obstacles, large
angles and curves.
Q. Is it possible to turn off lights manually?
A. Yes. The solution supports manual override feature and no
modification is required in existing wiring.
21. Q. How can we change the ON / OFF schedule?
A. ON / OFF schedule can be changed through the below user touch
points: SMS through registered mobile, smart phone application, cloud
based application.
Q. How do I control dimming?
A. SLC supports 0-10 V analog / PWM output for dimming of the
lighting fixture. Also, occupancy sensor based diming logic can be
implemented for controlling lighting fixture.
Q. Do I need continuous Internet access every day to turn lights ON /
OFF?
A. No. A fixed schedule once updated on the server shall be stored on
the DCU and shall work without connectivity.
Q & A
22. Q. Do I need one SIM card per lighting panel / light pole?
A. No. The solution is based on low power radio frequency and one SIM
card shall be required every cluster of lighting panels / light poles.
Q. Is the solution weather proof / tamper proof?
A. Yes. SLC come with required provision and installation guidelines to
avoid tampering and protection from weather.
Q. Would we get an alert if a light is not working?
A. Yes. SLC has an inbuilt mechanism to detect if the light is not
working. A fault detection alert with location shall be delivered.
