1. When I was in elementary school.

2. When I was in elementary school
I heard Father say,
“Be careful by yourself”
But not your heart away;
Give money away and rubies,
But keep love free.
But I was in elementary school,
No use to talk to me.

3. When I was in junior high
I heard him say again ,
“The love to anyone
was never given in vain;
„tis paid with sighs aplenty
And sold for endless rue.”
And I was in junior high,
And oh, „tis true, „tis true.
