This was captured and disseminated to very high level management, (including enterprise level), in the form of a very extensive presentation around these new solutions and emerging technologies that were being incorporated and evaluated. This presentation included detailed case studies and business drivers, expressed through complex animations, and demonstrations. This presentation was also very pragmatic in that it addressed the challenges surrounding implementation and change from organizational, technological, human, and business case perspectives. This “MPD vision” presentation was so well received that it took on a life of its own and was presented to management at an enterprise level.

Consulting Experience ,[object Object],[object Object],Directly involved with the management of evaluating, supporting, driving enhancements, and internal development and customization of vendor software and databases, such as DELMIA, CATIA, ENOVIA, Microsoft, and Right Hemisphere among many others. David became a manufacturing liaison, developing requirements for new functionality or enhancements, with the consideration of the affect and interfacing with the many software solutions and databases at the enterprise is an integral part of the support and development teams. Therefore, the decisions this team makes and the solutions that are developed here are the solutions that get handed off to the deployment and support factions of the MPD team to be used by the client in manufacturing. David is often at the forefront of these decisions that drive the direction of these solutions and the team’s rationale.

Consulting Experience ,[object Object],[object Object],Team lead on a project to capture requirements directly from the factory floor regarding the usability of installation plans and graphics, utilizing product data directly extracted and synchronized with The Dassault suite of applications, ENOVIA, CATIA, and DELMIA. Define very specific requirements as to what the Manufacturing Technician’s (MTs) need and what the Manufacturing Engineers (ME’s) should be delivering. This process will help to directly define the requirements for a manufacturing documentation authoring solution. There was a great deal of integration and interoperability considerations when developing this solution. In the end it was determined to extract the data from ENOVIA/CATIA, set up manufacturing instructions in DELMIA, and portray them in Adobe which was bringing all of the data together with smart forms, and the geometry was being translated and maintained in a lightweight format by Right Hemisphere.

Consulting Experience ,[object Object],[object Object],Performed as a technical resource and critic during the testing phase of the work instruction solution. This was a full team effort with almost all development resources allocated to this endeavor. Not only was the solution required to be evaluated, but every interface to other solutions and databases and the impact needed to be considered, evaluated and corrected in an isolated development environment prior to releasing this solution for production. There was a matrix of many different versions of many different softwares and enhancements that dictated the evolution of these solutions so that we could eliminate predetermined issues with the solution. Because of his involvement with other software companies, David contributed to help refine the testing process to include issues outside the scope of the predetermined ones, and also to retest issues on new versions of code as they may have been broken.

Consulting Experience ,[object Object],[object Object],In addition to the longer-term deliverables set forth by development, the dynamic manufacturing environment of the 787 causes the scope and SOW of the MPD organization to be very responsive. This environment dictates that MPD be flexible and support all aspects of manufacturing. From a process standpoint, i.e., planning to delivery, and supply chain/traveled work, and also from a disciplinary standpoint, structure, composites, electrical, and the many other systems that make up such a complex product. Having proven the breadth of background and problem solving skills, David was assigned to represent the MPD group in several of these disciplines. The three most notable are EID, Electrical, and Paint. In all three of these very diverse projects, David was the MPD representative attending meetings, capturing requirements, and defining/contributing to bi-directional advisory feedback.
