GENESIS 3:15
  “I will put enmity
between you and the
     woman, and
    between your
 offspring and hers;
He will strike at your
   head, while you
 strike at his heel."
700 YEARS BEFORE THE VIRGIN BIRTH
 “Therefore the Lord Himself will
give you a sign. The Virgin Herself
will be with a Child and give birth
to a Son and will call Him
            Immanuel."
             Isaiah 7:14
What did the Quran say?

• “O Mariam, Allah gives you good
tidings of `a Word from Him'
whose name shall be the Messiah,
Isa, the son of Mariam, highly
honoured in this world and the
next; and he shall be one of those
brought near `to Allah” (Sura The
  House of Imran 3:45).
• ANGEL GABRIEL;
• “HAIL, FULL OF GRACE….” Luke 1: 28

• MARTIN LUTHER ;
• "She is rightly called not only the mother of
the man, but also the Mother of God ... It is
certain that Mary is the Mother of the real
  and true God.“
• JOHN CALVIN:
• "It cannot be denied that God in choosing and
destining Mary to be the Mother of his Son,
  granted her the highest honor.”

• Ulrich Zwingli:
• "The more the honor and love of Christ
increases among men, so much the esteem
and honor given to Mary should grow."
There was much else that Jesus did; if it were
written down in detail, I do not suppose the world
itself would hold all the books that would be written.
                       John 21:25
• "He who hears you hears me, and
he who rejects you rejects me"
  (Luke 10:16).

• "stand firm and hold to the
traditions which you were taught by
us, either by word of mouth or by
letter" (2 Thess. 2:15). St. Paul

• "So faith comes from what is heard,
and what is heard comes by the
  preaching of Christ" (Rom. 10:17).
• St. Paul
So I now say to you: You are Peter
and on this rock I will build my
Church. And the gates of the Hell can
          never overpower it.
I will give you the keys of the
 kingdom of Heaven: whatever you
bind on earth will be bound in
heaven; whatever you loose on earth
      will be loosed in heaven.'

Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the
Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all
that is seen and unseen.

We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only
Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, Light from Light, true God
from true God, begotten, not made, of one
Being with the Father.
Nicene Creed
Through Him all things were made. For us
men and for our salvation he came down from
heaven: by the power of the Holy Spirit he
was born of the Virgin Mary, and became man.
For our sake He was crucified under Pontius
Pilate; He suffered, died, and was buried. On
the third day he rose again in fulfilment of the
Scriptures; He ascended into heaven and is
seated at the right hand of the Father. He will
come again in glory to judge the living and the
dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
Nicene Creed
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the
giver of life, who proceeds from the Father
and the Son. With the Father and the Son he
is worshipped and glorified. He has spoken
through the Prophets.
We believe in one Holy Catholic and Apostolic
Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the
forgiveness of sins. We look for the
resurrection of the dead, and the life of the
world to come. Amen.

ANNUNCIATION- LUKE 1 : 26-38

              “Hail, Full of Grace”
                   Luke 1: 28
To become the mother of the Savior, Mary "was
enriched by God with gifts appropriate to such a
role.” The angel Gabriel at the moment of the
annunciation salutes her as "full of grace”. In
fact, in order for Mary to be able to give the free
assent of her faith to the announcement of her
vocation, it was necessary that she be wholly
borne by God's grace. - CCC 490

DOGMAS
The Church (Magisterium) defines dogmas as:-

“Dogmas are truths contained in Divine
Revelation or having a necessary connection
with it and defined in a form obliging the
Christian people to an irrevocable adherence of
faith “ (CCC 88)

ROSARY
The rosary is
one of the
most
cherished
prayers of our
Catholic
Church.
MYSTERIES OF THE ROSARY
•Joyful (Annunciation, Visitation, Nativity, Presentation
and Finding in the Temple),;

•Sorrowful (Agony in the Garden, Scourging, Crowning
with Thorns, Carrying of the Cross and Death);

•Glorious (Resurrection, Ascension, Pentecost,
Assumption and Coronation).

•Luminous mysteries: Baptism at the Jordan, Wedding
Feast of Cana, Proclamation of the Kingdom of God,
Transfiguration and Institution of the holy Eucharist.
THE
HAIL
MARY
Luke 1:28
ROSARY

After the apparitions of Our Lady at
Fatima in 1917, the prayer Mary taught to
the children has generally been added at
the end of each decade:

"O my Jesus, forgive us our sins, save
us from the fires of hell. Lead all souls to
heaven, especially those in greatest
need of Thy mercy."
ROSARY
Archbishop Fulton Sheen said,

"The rosary is the book of the blind, where
souls see and there enact the greatest drama
of love the world has ever known; it is the
book of the simple, which initiates them into
mysteries and knowledge more satisfying
than the education of other men; it is the book
of the aged, whose eyes close upon the
shadow of this world, and open on the
substance of the next. The power of the
rosary is beyond description."
THE ANGELUS
V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary,
R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
     Hail Mary …...
V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord,
R. Be it done unto me according to Thy
     Word. Hail Mary…..
V. And the Word was made flesh,
R. And dwelt amongst us. Hail Mary...
The angelus (2)
V. Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God.
R. That we may be made worthy of the
     promise of Christ.
Let us pray
Pour forth , we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy
grace into our hearts; that we, to whom
the Incarnation of Christ Thy Son was
made known by the message of an angel,
may, by His passion and cross, be brought
to the glory of His Resurrection; through
the same Christ our Lord. Amen
MEMORARE

Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary,
That never was it know that anyone who fled to your
protection.
Implored your help or ought your intercession,
Was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence,
I fly to you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother;
To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and
sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate. Despise not my
petitions. But in your mercy hear and answer me,
AMEN

must imitate the
faith of our faithful
leaders. We ask
for their
intercession and
venerate them for
their holiness.
MIRACLES OF MARY
Hiroshima Rosary Miracle - Safe in the Midst of
         Hiroshima Nuclear Blast !!
• Over five hundred thousand people were killed..
Everything within a one-mile radius was completely
destroyed. That is almost everything was destroyed.

• There was a home eight blocks (about 1 kilometer)
from where the A-Bomb went off in Hiroshima Japan.
This home had a church attached to it which was
completely destroyed, but the home survived, and so
did the eight German Jesuit missionaries who prayed
the rosary in that house faithfully every day.

Saints

• Holy persons (Latin “sanctus”-holy,
  consecrated)

• St. Paul describes a believer as a saint and
  routinely calls Christian communities saints.
 ( eg Eph 1:1; 2Cor 1:1).
•We are all one family in heaven and on
earth, united together, as children of the
Father.
Eph. 3:14-15-
•We are called to be saints. Saints refer
to both those on earth and in heaven
who are in Christ. 1 Cor. 1:2; Rom. 1:7 -
• Pope Pius XII –Encyclical on the Mystical
Body, said “it is the society of those who
have been baptized, and who profess the
faith of Christ, and who are governed by
their bishops under the visible head, the
  Pope, the Bishop of Rome.”
• St. Paul speaks of all Christians as members
of Christ, so that with Him, they form one
  Mystical Body (Cf. 1 Cor 12:12-31; Col 1:18;
  2:18-20; Eph. 1:22-23; 3:19; 4:13)

            Communio
            Sanctorum
           (Communion
             of Saints)
This expression also refers to the communion
between holy persons (sancti); that is, between
those who by grace are united to the dead and
risen Christ. Some are pilgrims on the earth;
others, having passed from this life, are
undergoing purification and are helped also by
our prayers. Others already enjoy the glory of
God and intercede for us. All of these together
form in Christ one family, the Church, to the
praise and glory of the Trinity – CCC 961-962
For though we live in the world we
are not carrying on a worldly war,
for the weapons of our warfare are
not worldly but have divine power
to destroy strongholds.

Canonisation of Saints
Martyrs - who died for their faith in Christ Confessors -
who died after a life of heroic virtue.

Procedure
  1. Inquiries – Congregation for the Causes of Saints
     – “Venerable”
  2. Beatification – evidence of virtues and miracles –
     “Blessed”.
  3. Canonisation - two miracles worked at his/her
     intercession – “Saint”
Canonization does not "make" a person a saint; it recognizes what God has
  already done.
Canonization Process- nutshell
           1. First Step
A petition is made to open a cause for
canonization for a servant of God.

           2. Second Step
The servant of God is declared
              “Venerable”

           3. Third Step
              Beatification
              *One miracle is required

           4. Fourth Step
              Canonization
              *Second miracle is required

The Blessed is declared a saint in a
solemn, public mass at the Vatican by the
             Pope.
