The Biltmore House Mary Grace and Becca
Where is the Biltmore House? We’re on our way from Cherokee, NC to the Biltmore House located in Asheville, NC. Asheville is the largest city located in the Mountainous region of North Carolina.
The Biltmore History George Vanderbilt George Washington Vanderbilt was born in 1862. He loved books so much that when he was 12 he began recording books he read in journals. Some of his journals still remain today. He was a very good student. He and his wife had an only child, Cornelia.
The Biltmore History The House  It took 6 years to build the Biltmore house. The family owned 125,000 acres of land. They have 400 acres of floor space, 256 rooms,34 bedrooms,43 bathrooms, and 65 fireplaces. The basement itself would be a mansion compared to a regular sized house. The house was designed by Fredrick Law Olmsted and was finally opened to friends and family on Christmas Eve in 1895.
Winery The Biltmore Winery is the most visited winery in America. The winery is celebrating 25th anniversary this year.
The Gardens The gardens are most beautiful during the Spring, Summer, and Fall. The garden includes the All America Rose Garden featuring more than 250 varieties.
Cool Facts The Biltmore Estate is the most visited historic attraction in the country and the largest employer in Asheville. The house designer also created the New York Central Park
Cost Food $60.00 Lodging $ 227.10 Gas $ 12.00  Admission $55.00 Total $ 353.10 When visiting The Biltmore House we will stay at the Quality Inn in Asheville.  Our drive from Cherokee is 60 miles and will use 3 gallons of gas. We will eat dinner at the market place in Asheville.
