3. A True Leader “I have a dream…” speech is one of the most recognizable and powerful speeches from America’s history Inspired by Ghandi and his non-violent protests, which were successful in India
4. “Love is the only force capable of transforming an enemy into a friend.” -Martin Luther King
5. Why I Chose This Quote I picked this quote because it is true to the testament that “love is more powerful than hate.” I very much felt inspired after reading “A Tale of Two Cities” which had a similar message. For one man to be assassinated for the cause and rights of many speaks louder than if he had led a type of physical revolution. Heroes come from the most unlikely of places and circumstances. His nonviolent acts and ultimate looking for the betterment of people speaks to me as a true leader.
6. Chapter 10 Leader Types In my opinion, MLK showed signs of people-oriented leader behaviors. As defined by the text, “Behaviors that include showing concern for employee feelings and treating employees with respect.” All great leaders have to possess a charisma that makes them memorable and effect speakers.
7. Chapter 10 Leader Types (Con’t) MLK was also a supportive leader. He continued to present himself and his ideas publically In his speeches, attempted to relate his struggles to others Transformational Leader It could also be argued that he was a transformational leader because both he and his supporters were working towards a common goal (civil rights for all).
