Brief: To create a music video which contains the typical conventions of a music video.
Aim:
To create a visual and performance music video to the song ‘Crying For No Reason’ by
Katy B, by using a wide variety of shots such as close ups and high angles with a range of
equipment like a tripod and steadicamand lighting equipment such as a diffuser light also
different locations such as a drama studio and in London. Furthermore, I aim to shoot
with a ballet performer and an actor as the main protagonist.
Description of your intentions:
The song it 3:43 minutes long therefore will feature a wide of shots of performances from
the actor who will mime and perform the song, the ballet performer will be performing a
ballet routine with the song. I have decided to use the following equipment; Steadicam,
Tripod, Camera, SD Card, Lights and a Diffuser light. With these equipment, I believe I can
achieve a clear and suitable footage for my music video.
There are locations such as a studio for the ballet routine to be shot in with lights and the
actor to sing behind a black background which means that I will have to use the studio for
this part as well.
Target Audience:
The target audience for this music video will be lovers of dance music. The fan base of this
artist will also be the target audience. The song is a very upbeat ballad with noticeable
beats of electro pop and dance.
The song has featured in the charts and is noticeable by the audience. The social class of
the audience fit into C2, D and E. The target audience are both females and males,
alongside being in some kind of education or professional job. As this is a very open genre
of music, the target audience can vary. I have aimed for more of a performance based
video as the target audience would focus more of the song rather than the story behind
the song.

There are few music videos which have inspired me to get to the final of this idea. Each
music video that are similar have some sort of performance or narrative element into it.
