  1. Sometimes it’s like standing at a precipice. Like the coastline the educational landscape is constantly changing – but Geography is a dynamic subject that is perfectly positioned to be at the forefront of every school.
  2. Gove is not in my classroom, our department or our schools
  3. How do we encourage creativity and turn our learners into creators of media as well as consumers?
  4. What are the aims of this session?To give leaders of geography ideas to make the subject central to whole school, wider curriculum developmentsTo give teachers of geography ideas of how to introduce other dimensions into our teaching

  6. I’m a great believer in community and networked learning. Geography departments that I know of are often small and therefore it’s essential to reach out. We are a community or network in this room now – so we are going to work together

  17. Sometimes it’s scary to reach out past the comfort of the known but if school geography is to expand we must be able to show
  18. I know that we are often guilty of seeing X, Y and Z as Geography, this can be a knife edge balancing act as, the danger of which is falling off. I’d like to think of geographers as educators of children first, so reaching out to the wider curriculum aims is important. As leaders of geography we can show others how our subject can contribute and as teachers of geography we can easily incorporate these ideas
