The digipak for Beyoncé's greatest hits album was designed to look like a vinyl record with black and white imagery showing representations of women. It features tracks from across Beyoncé's albums and shows her in iconic costumes from her music videos to represent that it includes hits from different eras of her career. Stylistic elements like the gold and black coloring and exaggerated features of Beyoncé are intended to attract a male audience, though her music is mostly aimed at and bought by female fans.

Beyonce digipak
1. Beyoncé’s greatest hits digipak has been specifically made to look different to a regular
digipak. This is obvious because of the way the CD’s are made to look like a vinyl record. The
colours of the records compliment the black and white imagery. The imagery shows
representation of women. Beyoncé is wearing little clothing but looks elegant at the same
time. The images have been shot in a studio and are made to look simplistic by professional.
Framing is used within the CD holder part of the digipak, framing Beyoncé into the circle
holder.
On the back of the album advertisements for Beyoncé’s other albums are used, this is a
clever way of promoting her other albums. The album features tracks from a range of
albums. The audience are now able to identify which album the songs are from. The gold
text emphasises the elegance of the digipak. The style is similar to what we assume what
would be the style of a music awards, using gold and black. Beyoncé is seen in her iconic
costumes from her music videos.
Within the middle she is wearing the costume from the single ladies, left from the single
ladies and right from the freakum dress video. These are costumes from videos which her
fans will be familiar with and from different eras. This shows that the album won’t use just
songs from a certain era, using Beyoncé’s best hits of all time. The setting is based in a
studio, we can tell this by the low key and high key contrasts within the lighting.
Iconography is also evident within the CD style. They’re made to look like a vinyl record. The
style of the digipak is simplistic but sophisticated. Gold and black have connotations of
upper class communities. The black and white emphasises the female representations, using
dark make up around the eyes. Certain features within female characters are often
exaggerated or emphasised; this is evident in this digipak. Beyoncé’s hips, eyes and hair are
all heavily exaggerated to attract a male audience. By using mise en scene features such as
costume and makeup Beyoncé is able to make herself appear to be attractive and appealing
to a male audience. However Beyoncé’s music is mostly aimed at a female audience.
Stereotypically women are most likely to buy Beyoncé’s music rather than male due to the
pop music genre.
