• CDET provides assurance for professional dance and musical theatre
industries.
• CDET negotiates with government bodies on behalf of our member
organisations.
• If you are looking for information on education, training or
assessment CDET is the first point of contact.
• They validate awarding organisations which offer dance and musical
theatre qualifications.
3. How they financially help
• The music and dance scheme
• The music and dance scheme allows exceptionally talented young musician and
dancers to access financial help for specialised training. It provides grants and
additional help with fees at 29 institutions for advanced training. For music
schools you must be aged 8-19 and for dance schools you must be aged 11-19.
• Dance and drama awards
• This was introduced in 1999 and offers annual scholarships to exceptionally
talented performing arts students studying dance, drama and musical theatre. It
is funded by the government through the education funding agency. There is an
income assessment of these award which means that there is more support for
children with lower income families.
