2. 28% SUFFER FROM HUNGER
IN THE DIOCESE OF MERU - 2012
“I like to briefly share with you about the food situation in Meru. Mr.
Loti Nnko our Acting General Secretary in collaboration with the Meru
District council have done some survey on food situation in the District
and observed that we have 59,689 households with an average of population
of about 300,000 people; no food due to short rain which lasted for less
than two months in the lowland.
The 84,000 people are an average of 16,800 households. Each household is
estimated to have 5 to 7 people who need food.
At the beginning of this year we were very optimistic that we are going to
have a good yield. But it has been the opposite. It is our prayer that the
God will have mercy upon us and give us rain. Please continue praying for
us.”
Yours,
Paulo Akyoo,
BISHOP
