4. INTRODUCTION
It is a way of accessing existing excellence in problem
solving.
Uncover the generic problem that lies behind the
specific problem
Providing a generic solution to generic problem
Interpreted in terms of the original specific problem

6. HISTORY
Genrich S. Altshuller born in 1926.
Serving in the Soviet Navy as a patent
expert in the 1940s
Over 90% of the problems faced by
inventors had been solved in
various technical fields
He categorized the patent solutions
into five levels

8. THEORY OF INVENTIVE PROBLEM
SOLVING
This method consists of Three major principles
The Resolution of Technical and Physical Contradictions
The Evolution of Systems
The Ideal System and Ideal Solution

10. Triz example: Umbrella
• Step 1. Identifying the Problem
• Step 2: Formulate the problem
• Step 3: Formulate an ideal solution
• Step 4: Look for Analogous Solutions

11. ADVANTAGES
Objective, domain- independent laws of evolution of
technical systems have been disclosed and guide the
design process.
Triz provides systematic access to the previous
experience of many generations of inventors.
Triz proposes a structured and ergonomic shape of
scientific phenomena and effects.
Triz does not replace human creativity but
restructures the thinking process of a designer.

12. DISADVANTAGES
Long term education.
Inventive principles and Inventive standards are
sometimes far from a technical solution to a given
problem.
Necessity to reformulate the initial problem in terms
of generalized parameters (contraction model).

rider speeds up the two rear wheels come together as a
single wheel.
20. CONCLUSION
TRIZ has been used for creative solving not only in
technological fields but also in nontechnical fields,
like services and business. It also has rich experience
(in Russia) in the field of creativity education. TRIZ
is expected to give great impact on innovation in all
these fields in Japan and in the world.
