This document discusses the plight of girl children in India and calls for action. It notes that female infanticide and feticide are still prevalent practices, with sex ratios as low as 896 girls born for every 1000 boys nationally and 754 in some parts of India. Girl children face discrimination, prejudices, lack of medical care and proper nutrition. They are often killed in the womb or shortly after birth through methods like poisoning, suffocation or starvation. It calls on influential groups in society like local leaders, health professionals, NGOs and journalists to take action through influencing attitudes, ethical guidelines, advocacy networks and investigative reporting to end gender discrimination and the pre-birth elimination of females. The goal is for India
11. Our World uproars of gender equality and law
enforcement , though the fact remains
unchanged…
female infants are still found dumped in
trash, While unborn fetuses continue to
be sniffed in the womb…
by the millions!!!
12. Hustled by discrimination
Prejudiced by rituals
Twisted and turned by customs
&
A victim to chauvinism
Such is how a Girl child is dealt,
starting from her birth in the womb
to the dark of her life to death!!!
13. Motherhood is a boon….
But, Murders happen in the
womb…
Brutal killing of female
infanticide and feticide is
done in the womb….
14. You were also born to a Woman…
How can you kill her?
15. National sex ratio
In 1961, 976 girls born for every 1000 boys
In 2001, 927 girls born for every 1000 boys
And Today
896 girls born for every 1000 boys
Horrifying fact is that it is as low as 754 girls
born for every 1000 boys in many parts of India
16. SHOCKING FACTS
• Lacing their feed with pesticides
• Forcing down a few grains of poppy seeds or rice husk down the
throat
• Stuffing their mouths with black salt or urea
• Starving them to death
• Suffocating them with wet towel or bag of sand
• No or fewer months of breast feeding
• No medical or health care
• No proper food
• Rubbing of poison on the mother’s breast so that the baby girl is
poisoned as she suckles
