14 Brothers, what value is there insomeone claiming to have faith with noassociated deeds? Can this kind of faithsave anyone? 15 If a brother or a sisterneeds proper clothing or has nothing to eatand 16 one of your number simply says “Goin peace and be warmed and filled”
but does not give them the material thingsthey need, what kind of empty faith isthat? 17 The truth is that faith withoutassociated deeds is not real.
18 Some among you might say, “You havefaith and I have deeds.” How can you showme your faith apart from your deeds? I willshow you my faith through my deeds. 19You say that you believe that God is One.Even the demons believe that – andshudder.
20 If you still foolishly think like this I willshow you that faith without accompanyingdeeds has no reality. 21 Wasn’t Abrahamour father justified by his deeds throughthe offering of his son on the altar? 22 Hisfaith was made visible through his actions.By such faith he was made whole.
23 The Scripture was fulfilled thatsaid, “Abraham believed God and itwas accounted to him asrighteousness.” He was called God’sfriend. 24 So you can see that a manis justified by his deeds of faith, notjust by empty faith-words.
