7. The Giraffe Food The diet of the giraffe match their physical, eats the leaves of the trees that uses its long tongue. Those living in South Africa like the branches and leaves that have spines. The preferred food of the giraffe is the acacia tree that grows in the African Savannah, the giraffe is an animal highly selective in what it eats when it have food to choose from. They have no problem in adapting to other foods. Drinking water and fed with grass giraffe must duck, which puts it in a vulnerable position. The tongue of the giraffe and their digestive system allows them to eat prickly plants, which are digested without any problem. The giraffes are between 16 and 20 hours a day feeding and may do so during the hot stage of the day when they have children, because at that time predators are inactive.
