have
● You want to leave
the place wanting
the boss to want to
know more about you
and your skills
● Shows value of your
idea in the smallest
time frame possible
to not bore your
person of interest

● Arrive about 10
minutes prior to the
start of your
interview
● This demonstrates
responsibility and
commitment to the
position
Get there early
DO Practice firm
handshaking
● A firm handshake gives
off a strong first
impression
● It also demonstrates
that you have a strong
trust in yourself and
your abilities
DO Show interest by asking questions
● Research the company
or organization you are
interviewing for
beforehand so you can
show interest by
asking the appropriate

● Interviewers see

Dont’s
DOn’t Ask about salary or pay
● Asking about salary
during your interview
tells the interviewer
that you assume that
you landed the job
● Try your best to avoid
this question unless
your interviewer brings
it up first
DOn’t Chew gum while speaking
● Chewing gum during the
interview can be
distracting and
unprofessional
● It’s fine to have it before
your interview, but throw
it out before it’s time to
meet the interviewer
DOn’t Rely on your resume
● People often think that as
long as they have an
extensive resume, they
don’t have to contribute
much to the interview
itself.
● You should make your
resume, but not let the
resume make you.
DOn’t Throw anyone under the bus
● Employers are notorious for
asking the question “what makes
you stand out from the rest of
the people applying to this job?”.
Instead of focusing on the
negatives in other people, focus
on your strengths and how they
make you stand out from the
competition.
DOn’t Stretch the truth
● It’s a known fact that when you
enter a job interview you should
leave a lasting impression on the
interviewer, but don’t stretch
the truth to make yourself seem
like more of a qualified
candidate.
● A mistake often made is adding
aspects that aren’t truthful to
make themselves look better.
