2. Introduction:
Cloud computing is the future of the IT. All the big brand of IT
is betting big on the cloud. As per the survey Bloomberg the
cloud computing will reach $ 270 billion in 2020. This market in
going rapidly and it also lead in increase of the user of the
Cloud. As the market grows there is a huge need of client
computer that is too used by the client to access the cloud.
According to the IT@ Intel White paper [1] cloud application
providers are increasingly offering rich Internet applications
(RIAs), which distribute processing between the cloud and the
client device as a way to improve application responsiveness.
With RIAs, application code is downloaded to the client device
and executes on the client using an RIA software framework.
The RIA can therefore take advantage of the client hardware to
provide better performance and new capabilities, some of which
are equivalent to traditional client-installed applications, due to
that some of the work depends on the client computer.
3. According to International Data Corporation (IDC)’s statistics
[2], 494 million smart phones were sold worldwide in 2011,
surpassing the 353 million total sales of PCs. From 2010 to 2011,
the sales of smart phones reached an annual growth of 62%,
with expected continued increases in sales in the future. Tablet
device sales are also rising sharply, jumping from 19 million in
2010 to 69 million in 2011, an astonishing annual growth of
263%.
In Mobile Cloud Computing both the data storage and the
somewhere data processing happen outside of the mobile
device therefore when we combined concept of cloud
computing in mobile environment it solves the one of the
problem of internal storage of mobile, we can store data like
multimedia on the cloud, run any heavy/liter application on the
cloud. If the manufacturer provide some cloud space with the
smart phone like some of them doing it will also help them
because these days due to good camera embedded in to smart
phone user always want more and more internal space in there
smart phones.
4. Our main task is to prove how the personal computer
is similar to smart phones in the term of hardware
then we can easily say they smart phones can be used
for accessing the cloud for that here we have
comparisons of latest smart phones with the tested
personal computer on the cloud by the Intel as per
the Intel@IT White Paper[1].
7. Issues with the Smart Phones
CPU Performance
The CPU performance is related to energy consumption, size, as well as
amount of memory. Data transfer is dependent on which type of network
connection the mobile phone has and how good it is.[4] The issues are not
only related to the smart phones’ hardware. Transfer capacity and traffic load
of mobile phone base stations, which connects the phones to the mobile
phone network, has its constrains. The increased usage of multimedia through
the mobile network creates increased traffic load on the base station, which
needs to be handled[5].
Operating System
Operating System is one of the other issue that have to taken in concern
because all the cloud service providers provides services for Linux/Unix and
for Windows based platform because of the universal acceptance of these
operating system. Some of the cloud service providers find the Smartphone as
the emerging market and are working on building the new cloud environment
to be accessed by the user of Smartphone’s.
8. Security
Security is one of the major issues, the internet connection used on
the mobile is provided by mobile company and user can not directly
access the internet. Whenever user wants to access the cloud first
he/she have to connect his/her mobile to mobile station then the
mobile station connect it to its internet server then the user can
access to its cloud server. There is number of intermediate server used
for accessing the internet that’s why security is one of the big
concerns.
Mobile Traffic
Mobile traffic on the internet increasing day by day these days with
cost effective smart phones and with the low cost internet every smart
phone user is uses internet on his/her mobile. Mobile data traffic is
tremendously hiking by ever increasing mobile user demands for
exploiting cloud resources which impact on mobile network operators
and demand future efforts to enable smooth communication between
mobile and cloud endpoints.
9. Executing Large Application
Using the cloud computing in mobile for accessing and storing user’s data is
not issue but to execute a large size of application from mobile to cloud is an
issue for the mobile cloud computing. It is been found that classifying the
tasks or applications from mobile devices into multiple modules and deliver
some of them to run in cloud, can be an intelligent approach to the resource
limited mobile devices. However, we do not have an optimal, effective strategy
or algorithm on how to classify these modules because through these
approaches we cannot find out which module should be processed by cloud
and which one by Mobile devices [6].
Network Connection
As we know that multimedia data is consists of texts, graphics, audio, video it
needs hefty amount/sum of storage and reckless promptness/speed for
transferring/transmitting data. For storing/packing and managing/handling
data in heterogeneous/dissimilar mobile environment certain issues/matters
are there that need/requires to be concern or tackle with and can be
measured as issues/matters of mobile multimedia database [7].
11. The above figure is the purposed architecture of mobile cloud computing
where we are trying to resolve some of the issues with the smart phones.
According to Gartner, mobile phones that are sold during 2012 are running
Android, 50.9%, IOS, 23.8%, and Symbian 11.7% [8] because of that we are
showing the popular operating system being used in the smart phones.
Smart phones battery is one other issue for that we are purposing one
application that will reside in the cloud and whenever any mobile entered in
there cloud area it will start charging it with the help of WiFi access point.
Whenever user first entered in there cloud this application got installed on
the client smart phone will charge the mobile by using the WiFi access point.
Another issue with the smart phones is the internet connectivity for that we
purposed only 3G/4G connectivity for accessing the cloud.
In the above architecture first we are trying to resolve the problem of security
for that we purposed each and every smart phone to have preinstalled firewall
on the preinstalled web browser so that every internet communication will
hold through the local firewall. We have also purposed one firewall at every
mobile station from where the mobile is connected to the internet. At last
each and every cloud server has there on firewall.
12. Future Work:
Considering
the importance of Mobile Cloud
Computing from this discussion, which is poised to be
the fifth utility [9] in the future, we would like to
explore further architectures that are plausible.
Adequate security measures have to be incorporated to
support the low processing ability at the client-side.
Further more we have to find out some mechanism so
that the user mobile and the cloud interact to execute
same application and they synchronize the result of the
execution. Mobile internet traffic is increasing and is
set to increase in further for that we would like to drive
some specification of mobile internet protocol.
