Project Citizen is an educational program that teaches students about civic participation and public policy. It uses an interdisciplinary curriculum with a focus on state and local government. Through cooperative learning, students work together to identify a public policy problem in their community, research potential solutions, develop a proposed policy, and create an action plan to implement their solution. They document their work in a portfolio and presentation for community evaluators. The goal is for students to gain knowledge about the political process and develop skills and dispositions for engaged citizenship.
