3. Social networks Efficient way of keeping in touch with people you may not often see, and also people you see everyday. Main example of this is facebook. Another example is MySpace which can be used for many things as well has keeping in touch with friends i.e. Musicians use MySpace to promoted their music.
4. Content communities Sharing content on world news, agendas, music videos and pictures. Main example for videos is YouTube where millions and millions of people upload videos everyday to be viewed. Flickr is an example where people share images with each other e.g. holiday images.
5. Podcasts Allows you to listen to a pre-recorded radio show or music channel. Some of them are free, whereas some charge a small downloading fee. Examples of free ones are bbc radio one. Spotify which allows you to stream through music for free but does contain some compulsory advertising.
6. Forums Is an area which is open to discussion on a chosen subject where everyone is entitled to an input. E.g. Yahoo answers where someone will ask an question about anything and people will respond with answers. There are also student forums where students can ask each other questions and share resources.
7. Wikis Acts like a communal database where anyone can access and edit information about various subjects. Text, pictures and videos can be included. Main example is Wikipedia which acts like an online encyclopaedia containing information on millions of different topics.
8. Blogs Blogs act like online journals where people can share there interests, queries etc. Text, pictures and videos can also be included in the blog. E.g. www.blogger.com
