R.M.R MARMO Pvt Ltd WHERE THE SEARCH OF MARBLE ENDS
About us ,[object Object],[object Object]
R.M.R The Brand ,[object Object]
Press What diamond is to a women, stone is to a building . It was with this punch line coined by the MD of RMR Marmo Pvt. Ltd., Naval Kishor, in mind that architects-cum-interior designers, Rajiv and Mukta Gupta, did up the interiors of a showroom for imported stones.
RMR Marmo's showroom in Rajouri Garden has an impressive steel & glass facade that makes you wonder wheather you are walking into a marble showroom or an upmarket corporate office. As soon as you step inside, Kishor's words spring to life. On display are different varieties of imported marble & onyx. The display is conventional - slabs placed next to the walls, leaving the space in between totally empty. But, it is in this open space that the Gupta duo's architectural expertise comes to the fore. For the area takes the shape of a world map. The map showcase the various varieties of stones in a very unique way - each country sports a different coloured stone, displaying what the region is famous for.
Selling marble is a stereo type business - most showrooms just display slabs of stone in an unaesthetic manner. With nobody doing concept selling these days, we thought it best to showcase the different varieties in an unusual fashion - not just to arouse the customer's interest, but also to excite his aesthetic senses. Further, we wanted to treat the atrium as well as the lobby spatially so that the maximum possible colors could be displayed on the floor," says Rajiv. With the result that in order to highlight the world map, the other interior aspects in the showroom have been underplayed. Which is why you won't find any extra furniture pieces in the atrium. but when you look up at the ceiling, you realise the true meaning of kishor's words - the dome takes the shape of a diamond, with the effect further enhanced by the use of reflected lighting. Says Mukta, "In fact, the concept of reflected/diffused lighting enables the glare to be reflected from the dome and fall on the world map below, further enhancing its beauty." The map, however, is not the only manner in which the array of imported stones, have been highlighted. The three toilets also sport different type of marble in a range of colors and inlay work. The piece of stone used are also larger, with the result that the number of joints are also negligible. "Due to this, there is no fungus formation or leakage,"  says Rajiv.
While a sleek staircase takes you up to the working area, the ground floor is home to two customer care rooms. The rooms, on the first floor, are simply furnished with working desks and red chairs. The room, to the right of the staircase, has a glass panel through which you can look down on the world map below. Interestingly, a world map has also been etched onto the glass panel -  as if reflecting the world below. The two rooms on the ground floor are fashioned from transparent glass, except for a two by five ft. high etching. A coloured glass pattern on the ceiling lends a touch of class to the area. The pillars on either side of the rooms have a portion each in orange onyx that has been lit from within. Adding to the showroom's interesting display of stones.

HISTORY OF TRAVENTINE ,[object Object],[object Object],[object Object]
The Naming of Travertine Travertine deposits were discovered in Italy near a town called Tivoli. The name Travertine was taken from the Latin name for Tivoli stone and has been altered over the centuries to become Travertine. Travertine occurs around lakes, valleys and other natural water sources often causing travertine cascades that take thousands of years to evolve. Travertine was a very important building material throughout the middle ages. All of this travertine was mined and imported from Tivoli. The stone was used most widely in construction throughout Greece, Turkey and Italy. Nowadays it is imported into the UK extensively and used as a flooring material. Travertine is sometimes known incorrectly as travertine limestone or travertine marble.
Travertine lends itself perfectly to garden paths and patios. The stone can be identified by troughs and pitting on its surface that are sometimes filled and polished depending on the requirements of the finished stone. Smooth, shiny travertine is often used to make stone floor tiles. Travertine tiles vary in color from a coral red to a more natural grey. Travertine is often used now as a facade or cladding to modern buildings, chosen for its marble like appearance and its association with well known public architecture, expressing qualities of permanence, warmth and craftsmanship. In the United States there are a small number of producers trying to meet the three quarter of a million tonnes demand which is mostly met by imports. Most of these imports come from Turkey and Italy. Travertine tile is a durable and attractive natural stone in a class by itself. Famous structures like the Roman Coliseum stand as a tribute to the long-lasting nature of travertine as a building material. There are many installers and Dyers today who have used travertine tile as both flooring and as wall tile who will also sing its praises as a practical and uniquely decorative addition to their interiors and exteriors. So, travertine tile has been used and relied upon as tile for thousands of years, holding a place in the development of civilization from the Ancient Greeks, to the Roman Empire, and onto today’s modern age in equal measure. But what are some of the defining characteristics of travertine which sets it apart from other natural stone flooring and tile options?
Travertine is related to marble, actually falling somewhere between marble and limestone in terms of its development over thousands of years. Travertine is formed by subterranean springs, underground rivers, and other water sources. These water sources carry mineral elements such as calcium carbonate that build up over long periods of time in the same way stalactites and stalagmites in caves are formed. The resultant stone is a smooth and very hard substance further characterized by its porous surface. These pores are the result of gases escaping as the travertine is formed. By the time it is quarried, travertine is naturally beautiful – a smooth, dense stone that exhibits a notable creamy color that evokes a certain old-world refinement. Commonly found in Italy and Turkey, travertine remains to be a popular import for construction products all over the world, including North America.
Processing travertine tile Travertine is removed from the earth in large blocks before it is cut into what can be recognized as travertine tile. It may be cut in any of the following ways: · Cross-cut – The travertine is cut with the grain of the stone bedding and on the same layer as it is formed in the earth. This makes for a more uniform texture and color · Vein cut – the travertine is cut across several layers of the stone bedding, making for a more mottled, tiger-stripe effect when cut into tiles After the travertine is quarried, it is strictly selected for color variances, and further assessed after it is cut for holes and chipped edges. Beyond the selection process, the travertine may be subject to any of the following processes · Honed – The surface of the tile is sanded to create a matte finish · Tumbled – The travertine is literally tumbled with gravel and bearings, giving it a rough-hewn, aged appearance. · Brushed – A wire brush is used to give the surface of the travertine tile a worn, textured surface · Filled – The pores in the travertine tile are filled with colored resin or cement to produce a pristine, solid surface · Polished – The travertine is sanded and polished, producing a shiny look
Popular uses of travertine tile As old an option it is for a sturdy and reliable building material, travertine tile remains to be a highly diverse natural stone, suitable for all kinds of applications. Travertine was used in the ancient world, but can also be found as a major component of many modern buildings such as the Getty Centre in Los Angeles, and the UCLA medical centre. Travertine tile is used as floor tile in both residential and commercial settings, as well as a decorative option for wall cladding and backsplashes. Travertine tile has both indoor and outdoor uses, being a durable stone, and can be both functional and aesthetically striking. A featured design element of which anyone would find to be a source of pride, the popularity of travertine seems to be undiminished. In fact, it’s getting more popular!

From grinding and honing / polishing to removing stains—even red dirt and mineral staining—to sealing and protecting, your natural stone is in the best of hands...
Do's and Don'ts Do dust mop floors frequently. Do clean surfaces with a neutral stone cleaner. Do thoroughly rinse and dry the surface after washing. Do blot up spills immediately. Do protect floor surfaces with non-slip mats or area rugs and counter top surfaces with coasters, trivets or place mats, particularly under those containing alcohol or citrus juices. Many common foods and drinks contain acids that will etch or dull the stone surface. Don't place hot items directly on the stone surface. Use trivets or mats under hot dishes and place mats under china, ceramics, silver or other objects that can scratch the surface. Don't use vinegar, lemon juice or other cleaners containing acids on marble, limestone, and travertine or onyx surfaces. Don't use cleaners that contain acid such as bathroom cleaners, grout cleaners or tub & tile cleaners. Don't use abrasive cleaners such as dry cleansers or soft cleansers. Don't mix bleach and ammonia; this combination creates a toxic and lethal gas.

Granite Granite is a common and widely-occurring group of intrusive felsic igneous rocks that form at great depths and pressures under continents. Granite consists of orthoclase and plagioclase feldspars, quartz, hornblende, biotite, muscovite and minor accessory minerals such as magnetite, garnet, zircon and apatite. Rarely, a pyroxene is present. Ordinary granite always carries a small amount of plagioclase, but when this is absent the rock is referred to as alkali granite. An increasing proportion of plagioclase feldspar causes granite to pass into grandiosity. A rock consisting of equal proportions of orthoclase and plagioclase plus quartz may be considered a quartz monzonite. A granite containing both muscovite and biotite micas is called a binary granite. The average density is 2.75 g/cm3 with a range of 1.74 to 2.80. The word granite comes from the Latin granum, a grain, in reference to the coarse-grained structure of such a crystalline rock.
Occurrence of Granite Granite occurs as relatively small, less than 100 km2 stock-like masses and as large batholiths often associated with orogenic mountain ranges and is frequently of great extent. Small dikes of granitic composition called aplites are associated with granite margins. In some locations very coarse-grained pegmatite masses occur with granite. Granite has been intruded into the crust of the Earth during all geologic periods, except perhaps the most recent; much of it is of Precambrian age. Granite is widely distributed throughout the continental crust of the Earth and is the most abundant basement rock that underlies the relatively thin sedimentary rock veneer of the continents. Origin of Granite There are two theories for the origin of granite. The magmatic theory states that granite is derived by the crystal fractionation of magma. Thus granite bodies are the result of intrusion of liquid magma into the existing rocks. The gran itization theory states that granite is formed in place by extreme metamorphism. There is evidence to support both theories, and both are useful to explain different observed features. The two may actually merge: as metamorphic conditions increase to the melting point of the metamorphosed granite, it will melt and become a liquid magma.
Uses of Granite Granite has been extensively used a dimension stone and as flooring tiles in public and commercial buildings and monuments . . Blue Pearl Azul Macauba Azul Bahia Black Pearl

Onyx Onyx is a semi-precious form of chalcedony which has alternating straight bands of color, most commonly brown, red, white, and black. Chalcedony is the group name for a large family of stones, all of which form from silicon dioxide, also known as quartz In order to be classed as chalcedony, a stone must be milky, and translucent to transparent, often with layers or bands of color. The color of onyx, as with other forms of chalcedony, is created through impurities which seep into the rock as it forms. The most classic color combination for onyx has red or brown bands alternating with white ones. This form is sometimes also called sardonyx, because the red bands resemble sard, another type of chalcedony. More rarely, black bands will be mixed in, or the onyx will be primarily black. Black onyx is highly prized for use in jewelry and ornaments. Other colors can also be found, although they are less common. Unfortunately, the color of onyx is often created through chemical treatment and heat. It can be difficult to tell whether or not a stone has been dyed or heat treated, as dealers are not required to disclose this. In the case of an onyx which has passed through multiple hands, the dealer may not know whether the stone is natural or not. Although dyed colors should not fade or distort, some people prefer the idea that their jewelry is made from natural rocks in their true colors, rather than artificially enhanced ones.
A number of cuts are used to showcase onyx in jewelry. Usually a cabochon or other large, rounded cut will be made to show off the bands of color in the stone. A high polish is achieved through rock tumbling, and the stone is often set in a deep, strong setting which will further enhance the natural beauty of the stone. Sardonyx in particular is also used to produce cameos, because the even bands of color lend themselves well to the classic two-toned carvings. To care for onyx, people should take care not to bump or rap their jewelry, as it can cause the stone to crack. Onyx is reasonably hardy, although exposure to excessive sunlight and harsh chemicals should probably be avoided. If onyx is set in a metal, the setting should be checked periodically to make sure that it is not loose. Onyx beads may benefit from periodic cleaning and polishing to remove grime, and should be taken to a jeweler for cleaning.

R.M. R Marmo Presentation

  • 2. R.M.R MARMO Pvt Ltd WHERE THE SEARCH OF MARBLE ENDS
  • 3.
