Africa has over 60% of the world's HIV/AIDS infections, with 11,000 new infections and 6,000 deaths daily. Southern Africa has been most severely impacted, with average life expectancies around 48 years due to the disease. Lack of education, limited healthcare access, and scarce prevention resources have exacerbated the epidemic in Africa compared to other regions like the United States. Over two-thirds of global HIV/AIDS cases are in sub-Saharan Africa despite it containing just over 10% of the world's population.
