2. 1 Peter 2 9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of Him (excellence; virtue) Who hath called you out of darkness into His marvelous light: What's our reason for living? To show forth the excellence and virtue of our Lord.

4. 11b let him seek peace, and ensue it. Peace is twofold: within and without . Peace within is essential and enables us to live at peace with others .
5. John 14 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled [stirred or agitated] , neither let it be afraid [timid or afraid] . Jesus has given us peace, but we have to receive it. How do we "let not" our heart be troubled? How do we " let not " our heart be timid or afraid? Good and godly thinking, as opposed to -- Stinking thinking .
6. Jesus said, "Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid." Troubled means stirred or agitated . Anger and upset comes from wrong thinking . When we let our minds dwell on things that are dishonest or unjust, some slight , harsh word or deed, we will be perpetually upset . We see what we are looking for; Look for the good and the right . Think on these things.
7. When we trust God , we don't have to fret . We know that He is the righteous Judge. God will make it right. James 1 19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: 20 For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.
8. Let not your mind dwell on fearful thoughts: Dread , what might go wrong, or What might hurt me or mine. Don't be a "Nervous Nancy" or a "Dorothy Downer" or a "Bobby Beware" or a "Fearful Freddy" or a "Danny Dread it". [Jesus] Let not your heart be troubled [stirred or agitated] , neither let it be afraid [timid or afraid] .
9. When we trust God , we have nothing to fear . 2 Timothy 1 7 For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Fear is contrary to faith and is not of God.
10. Psalms 37 37-40 Mark the perfect (complete; upright; dear or gentle) man , and behold the upright (straight) : for the end of that man is peace. But the transgressors shall be destroyed together: the end of the wicked shall be cut off. But the salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: He is their Strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them: He shall deliver them from the wicked, and save them, because they trust in Him .
11. A third thing that will steal our peace is to get our minds and lives too cluttered . Luke 10 40 But Martha was cumbered (to drag all around; distracted with care) about much serving, and came to Him, and said, Lord, dost Thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me. 41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful (anxious) and troubled (disturbed) about many things: 42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.
12. Jesus said that only one thing is needful; Choose the best . Know for certain what God wants you to be doing, and do that . When we try to serve the Lord outside of our calling and our own particular gifts , or trying to do more than we can do: We destroy our inner peace , and like Martha , Get angry with our brothers and sisters.
