After reading the book, we will be talking about how each and every one of you are special and unique. Then in relation to the winter theme in the book, we will be making snowflakes, and will compare how each of your snowflakes are different from one another. I will then post them on the bulletin board. Lastly, you will also have the chance to play some winter interactive games online.

You will also see how technology can be used in reading as a fun new way to learn. As an extension of this lesson, the teacher could also have you write or draw something you think is unique about yourselves somewhere on your snowflake.

INTERMEDIATE OBJECTIVE: Demonstrate that they have a feeling of belonging in the school environment. This lesson will allow students to appreciate the differences among themselves. They will also have the opportunity to read the book over PowerPoint and will be able to browse an interactive game site about winter. After reading the book, the children will each cut out their own snowflake, and we will discuss how each of their snowflakes is unique and special just like them.

Children will also be assessed on how receptive they are to the book on powerpoint as well as how receptive they are to the interactive online game.
