A metaphor makes a comparison by
saying one thing is another thing.
Her boyfriend is a dog.
He’s not actually a dog, but he acts like a dog.
7. Hyperbole
Hyperbole is an obvious
and unrealistic exaggeration.
It’s probably impossible for a person to eat a horse, but
hyperbole is used to say “I’m really, really hungry!”
9. Personification
Personification gives human traits
(qualities, feelings, action, or characteristics)
to non-living objects (things, colors, qualities, or ideas).
