2. My goal Specific – I want to lose five pounds. Measurable – Everyday I will monitor my weight on a scale before I work out. Attainable - I will start going to the gym at least 5 days a week and work out at a minimum of thirty minutes. I will also start walking to class with my boyfriend. Realistic - Starting today I will begin this challenge I am imposing on myself. Timely - I will spend a lot of time on this and will hopefully reach my goal by the deadline. I chose this goal because summer time is right around the corner and I wanted to get into better shape for the warm weather and summer season. For this I need to start walking more to class, less driving and be driven to go to the gym.
3. Logbook To keep track of my practice I bought a second personal planner. In my planner I wrote down on the days I went (usually 4-5) and said how many minutes I did in total and then made it more specific by how many minutes I did doing what. On each square I then wrote down my weight on each day I went before I worked out. Below is my average week. I also had incorporated whether I walked to class or not. I tried to as much as I could dependent upon weather. In addition to this I wrote down in my planner what I ate. I had two columns, one was of the healthy things I ate and the other were things to improve on.
4. Process Steps to achieve my goal: Walk to class everyday Go to the gym 4-5 days a week for at least 50 minutes Watch what I eat – write it down in planner Watch what I drink (amounts of alcohol) - write it down in planner Drive as little as possible Keep motivated Track everything I do in my 2nd personal planner
5. Barriers Time Time was difficult due to class times, and amounts of HW or exams coming up during those days and fitting in extra curricular activities as well Lack of Motivation Some days were harder than others to make it to the gym. For example on rainy days. Gym Partner It was better to go to the gym when I had a partner because I had more motivation. Unfortunately every time I went to the gym my gym partner was not able to go.
6. Results For my results I did not lose the entire 5lbs I wanted to close, but I came close by ending up losing 3lbs. I am proud of myself for how far I have come, but I plan on reaching my goal with time. I now have to become more extreme with my entire process of losing the rest of the weight. I know that this is something I can do and will be easier to finally complete this once school is over and will have more time for myself.
