Johnson & Johnson is a profound leader in the consumer product business.  It has matured and spread to 57 countries with more than 230 operating units nationwide Johnson & Johnson has been listed and targeted via Human Life International, (a Virginia based, pro-life organization.) to implement a policy listing any and all charitable contributions on the company’s web site. ensuring that the stakeholders are aware of the issue at hand and the position in which the company takes on the proposal. The second step is to engage in a social debate in which the company has full on control, (mediator) of the debate. These recommendations will aid Johnson & Johnson in remaining to be a profound leader.    Executive Summary
 Johnson & Johnson background  Johnson & Johnson was formed by three brothers in 1886, Founded with the ideas of Doctors and nurses using sterile suture, dressings along with bandages where used to treat peoples’ wounds. Since more than 120 years ago The company has matured to employ over 115,000 people in 57 countries in more than 230 operating units.  Products: St. Joseph aspirin, Neutrogena skin care products, Band Aid Brand Adhesive, Baby powder, Motrin and Tylenol. Credo: written by Robert Wood Johnson, (son of one of the founders.) in 1943 gave the company leeway in the way in which it operates. The credo, often viewed as the succinct statement of the stakeholders view, identified the stakeholders in which the firm was responsible… Philanthropic Contributions: aiding in improving life for the long term; support programs for women and children who struggle to endure in places with limited health care, education or social support. Stakeholder proposal : initiated by Human life International, addressed the fact that it was discovered that Johnson & Johnson was found to have contributed to an organization known as Planned Parenthood Federation of America Inc…  Key Issues: Should corporations  make donations at all?, Was the contribution to Planned Parenthood appropriate ?, did the company disclose the potentate information they were supposed to?  Problem statement
 Firms corporate social responsibility, “Function as a built-in, self-regulating mechanism whereby business would monitor and ensure its adherence to law, ethical standards, and international norms ...”  Research: Charity/ conflict of interest…National Council for Voluntary Organizations: Giving voice and support for civil society. I found that “Trustees staff and volunteers have a legal obligation to act in the best interests of the charity, and in accordance with its governing document… Analysis
What did I recommend… Giving some form of charitable funds, time and or service for the betterment of the overall society. This is not only a norm in the corporate world, but also a requirement… In general, there is no way of telling if the donation was for the direct funding of abortions itself. But, it is known that Johnson and Johnson for quite some time now has aided Planned Parenthood in supporting women’s health issues and access to care. In documents such as Johnson & Johnson Annual Report, it does disclose the following:  and children’s health, community responsibility, access to care, advancing healthcare knowledge, and overall global healthcare knowledge. Recommendations
Would this solve the problem? Based upon the recommendations of the case, Johnson and Johnson in my opinion need to not change much of anything. Research shows that both Planned Parenthood and Johnson and Johnson share the same goals in health issues and providing access to care. Therefore, the firm has little to nothing to fix, problem wise.  Rationale
Concluesion In all, I honestly believe that the firm itself is not the problem. They have been up front about what they do from day one. The truth of the matter is, you can’t please everybody. In this case, there is only a select few that are bothered at the thought of being affiliated with Planned Parenthood at any rate. Regardless, Johnson & Johnson will continue to be the leader in the field of advancing society as a whole
