1. Audience research on first draft of the video
Marcus’s response:
Mise-en-scene, how well constructed has it been? Is it correctly lit etc?
The backing paper added a set to the video and allowed the colours of the dust come. The overall
Mise-en-scene was well put together allowing me to see the fundamental functions of each shot
broken down. The black use of all the costumes allowed each person to blend into the background
and when the dust was thrown allowed me to see the colours come out, the lighting of the shot
fitted in well with the varying camera shots.
Is the Camera controlled and is there a variety of shot types?
The camera we steady throughout and worked with the Mise-en- scene to give an overall brilliant
effect.
Is the Editing to the beat, have good effects been added well?
Some of the lip syncing was out of time by a fraction this could be changed, and a couple of the
drum shots are out of time and off beat, the balloon stabs should be on the beat as well and some of
the camera shot could be trimmed. The effects during the slow-motion work well and overall it is a
good start with some minor tweaks to be made.
Does the whole video work as a music piece?
Overall I think the concept has been well thought out and put into practice very well, the deeper
hidden meaning allows the audience (me) to think about what it means and be involved in the
narrative.
Favourite shots?
Personally I like the mid shot at 2.35. It was a very well composed shot allowing me to get involved
with it more.
What would you change?
Add more of the sub, and more lens flares effects like at 2.15.

I like many of the many aspects of the it matching the song and its lyrics. I found the lighting worked
well with the mise-en-scene and the back drop.
Is the Camera controlled and is there a variety of shot types?
The use of camera allows me to keep up with the speed of and pace of the song. The variety of
camera shots allows for a different view of the song and I liked this aspect.
Is the Editing to the beat, have good effects been added well?
The editing is to the beat and allows us to see the drum beat by beat. However some of the shots
are slightly out of sink
Does the whole video work as a music piece?
Overall the whole video looks aesthetically pleasing to my eyes.
Favourite shots?
My favourite shot is of the dust coming back into the actors mouth.
What would you change?

The set was well set out allowing me to see what was happening in the foreground. The same
lighting witch was consistence throughout the whole video and adapted to the shot, with the
camera.

There was a good variety of shot types. The camera was well controlled and adapted to the shot
type.
Is the Editing to the beat, have good effects been added well?
The editing was good, but when you hit the drum it is out of time.
Does the whole video work as a music piece?
I think that it is a bit disjointed looking at the first draft, but overall I really like the video.

The introduction shot was really good and an amazing idea.

The drum beats in theses shot.

Instantly apparent that that the lighting and costume worked together to create an effect. Wellconstructed, well lit and I would like some animation.

Steady camera and good shots nice variety

Editing is to the beat and looks good drum scene slightly out.

Yes and allows the true art form to come through.
