5. Idea one
SOBER- Fidlar
The song starts with the artist yelling the lyrics, the lyrics are about him
having a go at his partner.
So, for my song the video would be follow the storyline of the lyrics. Before
the lyrics begin I would start the video of with different clips of different
couples looking annoyed at each other before they start arguing in public
places, for around a second and a half for each couple. One half of the
couple will look remorseful and not want to create a scene in front everyone
there but the other half will be clearly just about to yell.
Then when the lyrics start the couples would start dramatically miming along
to the lines as if they are yelling at each other. The arguments would take
place in different public settings to make it awkward for people around them
in public. For example, at a party, at a family meal, in a waiting room. With
each different setting I would have different reactions from people around
them, looking awkward, and one half of the couple looking uncomfortable
but the half who was yelling wouldn’t care at all.
Then for each line I would change the scene to the different couples in
different places miming along and arguing. At the end of each line there is a
loud beat so I would change the scene at each beat. For each line I would
include a different age range and different sex relationships for diversity.
When the begging chorus finishes and it moves to the chorus then I would
move it to the couples going silent and the half of the couple who was in the
wrong would go up and try console them and we would seem him/her
miming apologies but then as the chorus comes to an end it’s obvious that
the half that was in the wrong says something worse and then as the yelling
starts on the next chorus the couples start arguing again.
6. Idea two
Naïve, The Kooks
My idea is to have a set of twins who start the day wearing the same clothes
and start the day the same way. Until the chorus the twins will follow out a
full day, getting up, going to school, perfectly and exactly the same. The
actors appearance will be straightforward and clean so that they’re
portrayed as simple. They will also be in sync through the video showing they
do everything together, in the same way. Then both of them will go to bed at
the same time, and as soon as the chorus starts the twins will be asleep then
on the first beat when they are both in ‘asleep’ one of them wakes up and
sneaks out of the house. Then when she sneaks away she goes out and
meets people and goes to a party, or gig or event. Then at the end she
sneaks back home and into her bed in time for morning. Then wakes up the
next morning at the same time as the twin and starts the same routine as
normal as if she had never gone out.
This doesn’t follow the lyrics to the song but it links to the song because the
song is about the idea of someone being a naïve so the twin that doesn’t go
out is naïve to think her sister doesn’t go out.
Although to include twins might sound like something that I couldn’t access I
am a twin so I think if I set the camera up right then I would be able to be in
the video myself and feature as one of the twins so it looks effective.
7. Idea three
7 – Catfish and The Bottlemen
My music video for this song would follow the lyrics. This song has lyrics
that tell a story so it would be easier to create a storyline centered on
the lyrics.
For this song I would have one person miming along to the lyrics but I
would recreate it with a girl miming and not a boy even though the song
is sang by a boy, just to introduce a unordinary aspect, also because I
could relay on a girl actor more then a boy, just because I know more
girls who would be willing to be in the video.
Ill have to story sand from the point of view of a girl. For parts of the
song ill have actors just act the lyrics, then when it says ‘id just regret
more shit’ I was thinking of having a lot of shots from a night out, or
from her making lots of mistakes, e.g. cheating, going out late etc.
The songs called twice, during the chorus it says ‘twice’ so when it says
twice I was thinking of including the word ‘twice’ being wrote on a piece
of paper then sped up, then for the next chorus when it says it id do the
same technique but with the word in a different place or write
differently.
Through the video I would have the main person miming along to the
lyrics for parts of it with the camera following then I’d also have the
actor acting as thought the camera wasn’t there
‘Thinking straight’ have the camera circle around then for the word
straight stop on her
‘Love the way your living’ someone laughing, in car, running with friends
9. Summary
5 strengths of your ideas you could use:
• Idea 3 - It follows the lyrics so makes an obvious link to the song and makes
sense to the audience
• Idea 3 - Give me opportunities to use more techniques then the other two
idea, I can already imagine scenes I would include and how to include them
• idea 2 – is random and doesn’t completely link to the lyrics, which I like
because it introduces an element of randomness
• Idea 3 – only includes one person so would be easier to organize
5 weaknesses of your ideas :
• Idea 1&3 - I would have to be reliant on people to be good actors in it as the
video is centered around one person
• Idea 3 – It would include a lot of scenes so this would take a lot of time
• Idea 1 – It would only swap between three scenes for the whole video I
don’t
• Idea 3 – would I have enough ideas based on the lyrics to sustain the whole
video, it would be very time consuming
• Idea 2 – I would have to be in the video which could be too much work
10. Final idea – artist/title/info
• Name of track / name of artist :
Twice, Catfish and The Bottlemen
• Brief biographical background :
The song Twice is about the singer getting away from all of his mistakes
and regrets. The singer is more interested in having a good time and
putting all the bad memories at the back of his mind.
• Links to other artists :
“Twice” was announced on twitter as Catfish and Bottlemen’s fourth
release off of their sophomore album The Ride. It premiered 05/18/2016
on Apple’s international radio station, Beats 1.

11. Maybe I don't mind, just getting high in mine
Shouting over music with a friend who's like a brother
Because if I get time, I'd just regret most shit
From every hangover my head feels
To every ex I didn't treat right
To every Monday I called in sick
To every argument I let slide
Christ, I ain't ever going back to thinking straight twice
Twice, it brung me down but it's the last time
Maybe I'll grow tired of you bitchin' all the time
'Cause when you love the way you're living, it get's hard to fret about much
Because if I got time I'd just regret most shit
From every hangover my head feels
To every ex I didn't treat right
To every Monday I called in sick
To every argument I let slide
Christ, I ain't ever going back to thinking straight twice
Twice, it brung me down but it's the last time
Christ, I ain't ever going back to thinking straight twice
Twice, it brung me down but it's the last time
From every hangover my head feels
To every ex I didn't treat right
To every Monday I called in sick
To every argument I let slide
Christ, I ain't ever going back to thinking straight twice (yeah, twice)
Twice, it brung me down but it's the last time
12. Final idea – track summary
• Summary/analysis of track [consider meaning, content, duration,
pace and style of the song]
The track is about the Vocalist Van McCann singing about how he separates himself
from his mind, so that he doesn’t have to think of all the bad things he’s done. He even
lists them all and then says ‘I aint ever going back to thinking straight’ so he knows
what he’s done but doesn’t want to go back to the place where he thinks about them.
He would rather go and have a good time forgetting past people and escape things he’s
done.
The song is 3 minutes and 17 seconds long and starts with a loud instrumental section.
I’ll have to crop the song and cut out some parts because the ideal length would be two
minutes and a half. The versus’ are quite short so I will make sure I include both but I’ll
have to cut one of the chorus’.
The pace of the song is quick from the start and then when it gets to the chorus it slows
down slightly but after is fast again. Throughout the whole video the pace doesn’t slow
down. The song isn’t just a singer there’s a guitar and a drum being played in the
background.
The style of the song is
13. Final idea – your idea
• Your creative concept/video synopsis [describe your interpretation,
use of imagery or narrative, genre conventions, etc]
For my video I would have it starting with two people sat in a room, for this I was thinking
of using my garage because in my garage I could create a relaxed atmosphere, instead of
having it somewhere like a living room where I cant imagine the kind of people in this
song hanging out at.
My interpretation of the video; the song is about a man who keeps going out to ignore
the people he’s hurt and also the mistakes he’s made so he keeps going and making more
mistakes so he forgets about his previous ones.
14. Final idea – techniques and styles
• Video techniques/style/conventions to be used [include how you
intend to implement these]
For my video I will include a lot of different techniques
a technique I want to include is one were a film something coming
together piece by piece so it creates a word at the end. I would have to
move the pieces in the scene very slowly and make sure the camera
was in the same place throughout, then put all the scenes together so
that it looks like it all moved on it’s own. Then I would speed it up.
Also for certain words I want to include a compilation of multiple
different images of the same thing. For example when it says ‘time’
which is one of the words in the song with a drawn out syllable to
make it longer
15. Summary
5 strengths of your ideas you could use
• Is that it won’t be too complicated to follow the lyrics as they paint a picture
• There are no scenes that would involve me having to spend any money
• I only include a few people so don’t need to rely on a lot of people
• I know the band and this helps me imagine how to create the video
A weakness of my idea
• is that I have to include a lot of different scenes which will take time to film
• I have to rely on people to be good actors
• It could be hard because their isn’t a clear storyline that is easy to follow
